Here you can download the program Bricx Command Center (BCC ver3.3 from John C.Hansen) for programming your RCX in NQC language. The Robolab is also a very good ‘icon’ program language based on Labview, but programming in NQC is more familiar because of C++. The BCC contains some features like joystick and remote control of RCX. The zip file contains also a programmer’s guide version (PDF) for NQC by  Dave Baum Ver 2.5 and the leg_OS if you want to give it a try.
