This is the 5 Vdc amd +/-54 Vdc power supply we needed to build for the evaluation board. The board will run with just these two supplies. I used a soft turn on so that it won't have a large in rush and possibly blow a breaker. It was needed since the transformer is a 1327 VA. I did have it working with out the soft turn on and the lights dimmed. The Soft turn on circuit has three 25 watt 3 ohm resistors that is bypassed with a relay that works from the timing circuit. It is set for 3 seconds. The transformer was a special order from Plitron who makes it specific for Tripath. The capacitors we used were 50000 uf so that there wouldn't be any power supply pumping. So far I have seen none. We got these donated from Madrigal were I worked for my co-op. There is a secondary off of the transformer which we used for the 5 V supply. It was simple set up with a 1000 uf cap a 5 V regulator and another 100 uf cap. This supply gets warm so it needs a decent heat sink. I took one from an old power supply and it works well. It is the only thing that I have found to heat up on this amp.
