Rumor Mill: Expansion On The Eastern Front
With two eastern teams folding this off-season, one can only speculate what will happen to the Saskatchewan Hockey Leagues Eastern Division.  It has been made official that there will indeed be 12 teams in the league for 07-08 season.  Whether those teams will lie on the Eastern side of the nation or not is still in question.  If an expansion team comes in off the west coast will the Brantown Slammers be moved to the Eastern Division?   This would erase Western Division rivalries that are apart of the heritage of the SHL.  In all likeliness during this 21st century oil boom, the only part of the nation that can afford an expansion SHL franchise is a city in the mid-eastern provinces.  It is certain that most fanatics would like to see both expansion cities join the Eastern Division.

Looking Ahead: The Saskatchewan Hockey League Launches The Hot Stove

After months of planning the Saskatchewan Hockey League is proud to present the first Saskatchewan Hockey League owned message board for the fans.  The SHL Board of Directors launched The Hot Stove message board this afernoon from a press conference inside the Gatorade Center in Dionland, RF.  The Hot Stove gives the fans a chance to interact about the latest breaking news around the league.  With the TV ratings increasing for all Television stations with a SHL contract the message board is sure to make the ratings sky rocket even more in the 2007-2008 hockey season.  Look in the future for there to be posts from both SHL General Managers and players in the coming months before the 2007 SHL Draft.

In Review: Gilmore Gold Jackets Capture The Copenhagen Cup

The Gilmore Gold Jackets are the first expansion team to win the Copenhagen Cup since the RumpyVill Roughosers did it in the inaugaral year or the Saskatchewan Hockey League.  The Gold Jackets moved into first place of the SHL regular seson on the final night of the schedule for the first time to capture the regular season championship.  They are the second team to win the regular season championship and the Copenhagen Cup, the last team to do it were the Dionland Twisters in the 2003-2004 season.  The game seven OT victory was a fitting way to end an exciting season in Gilmore.  Jackets GM Hans Johansen was ecstatic about his teams Championship season and is looking forward to the 2007-2008 season to attempt to be the first team in SHL history to win consecutive Copenhagen Cups. Looking Ahead: The Divisional Championiships Are Ready To Begin
The Adamville Falcons were ousted out of the playoffs by the Scott City Grrrowl; with the Grrrowl now moving onto the Eastern Division Final to face the Brantown Slammers in a rematch of last seasons Copenhagen Cup Final.  The Dionland Twisters advanced past Fort Macfie; they will face-off against the expansion Gold Jackets who have already claimed the regular season championship and wtith that earned a bye to the Western Division Final.  The semi-finals of the Copenhagen Cup playoffs will show the passion and heart this league is made of.

Looking Ahead: Who Will Get The Sixth And Final Playoff Spot
The SHL Playoffs are looming closer and closer and with the Jackets and Slammers recently clinching playoff spots and the Twisters, Grrrowl, and Gangbang all having a solid gap between them and the sixth place Gregville Assassines, the only real question is who will be the sixth place team to make it to the Copenhagen Cup playoffs.  Gregville and Adamville have been fighting it out for that spot for past couple weeks but with Trach City only four points out, Olchowyville eight points out and Marktown ten points out.  All of these five teams have a pretty good chance of reaching the playoffs, it's all a matter of what team can gel together in the last three games and what GM can make his team better before the March 1st trade deadline.

Looking Ahead: Trade Deadline Little More Then A Month Away

With the All-Star Break all said and done it only means one thing; the stretch run.  With the stretch run comes one important date; March 1st the date of the SHL Trade Deadline.  With this comes some important decision lie ahead for SHL General Managers.  Which teams should keep there team chemistry as is and which teams should make a blockbuster or two to make a serious run for the Copenhagen Cup.  Marktown Petes GM Mark Peterson realizes his squad is 20 points out of a playoff spot but if Ray Emery can stand on his head it isn't realistic if they pick up another sniper or two for them to squeeze into the playoffs. Over confident GM Dion Berg has to consider whether his currently first place squad is strong enough to last in the playoffs or crash and burn like they did in last years postseason.  Adamville Falcons GM Adam Wilkinson has to look at if the hot streak his team is on will last or if they need more help to hold onto the 6th and final playoff spot which they are in posession of right now.  Things should get very interesting.

In Review: Grrrowl Players Shine At Home In 2nd Annual All-Star Game

Joe Thornton, Marian Hossa, and Mikka Kiprusoff all shun at home infront of the Scott City faithful at the Great Eastern Forum in the 2nd Annual All-Star Game.  Mikka Kiprusoff shut out the Western Division in the first period of the game he played until Roberto Luongo took over for him.  Marian Hossa was able to notch two goals, and Joe Thornton picked up four goals earning himself All-Star Game MVP honors.  After winning All-Star Game MVP in last year's game; Alexander Ovechkin was only able to get a single goal in this years game. Scott City put on quite the show and the bidding for next years All-Star Game should begin, most likely the game will be held in a Western Division city after two straight All-Star Games being held in Eastern Division cities. In Review:  And It's The All-Star Break

The Saskatchewan Hockey League has reached the All-Star Break, some needing the break more than others.  For example the banged up and somewhat slumping Scot City Grrrowl couldn't have asked for a better time for the break to hit so they can rest some bodies.  On the other hand the red hot streaking Adamville Falcons have the break coming right after a 5-0 pounding on the Grrrowl.  Hopefully for the Falcons sake they can keep this momentum after break too.  Teams like the Olchowyville Leafs and Gregville Assassines sit down and evaluate their squads to see what they have to do to make a serious playoff run.  Then the Marktown Petes take time to decide if they have any chance in hell to make the Copenhagen Cup Playoffs or if they should start scouting for next year already. Looking Ahead: SHL GM Charity Christmas  Game In The Works

The SHL has announced they are planning a chairty GM Christmas Shinny Game to take place on December 23 a day after the SHL players go on Christmas holidays.  Plans are still in the works but it looks as if the game will be held at the Birch Hills Arena. All proceeds of the game go towards the Stephan Danielson Foundation of Hope.  Stephan Danielson himseld might even suit up for the game.  All GM"s are expected to be in the game the only question marks are Trent Rumpel who has always stated he has made a family commitment in Wadena and Jesse Trach is unsure of his availability of the game.  Other celebrities joining the game could be former SHL GM's Kyle Gordon and Lee McCutcheon aswell as the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCJHL's Assistant Coach Jaret Engele.  The game should be an absolute shitshow and don't be surpised if a few fists fly between the GM's. Rumor Mill: Americans GM Trach Not Showing Up To Work

General Manager of the Trach City Americans, Jesse Trach has reportedly been missing days at the office between games.  This rumor became evidently true when Trach was not in attendance at Ken's Cresting Arena when the Americans were defeated by the Twisters 4-2 last Saturday.  This rumor would also prove true with the performance the Americans are putting out is not to shabby with what Trach has given Head Coach Patrick Roy to work with.  The league does not set a fine for this type of incident it is solely up to Trach City American President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Esposito.  This incident again can be completely a myth, we will see what comes about this matter as more information comes our way. In Review: Should Falcons Give Cherry The Blame

The blame was bestowed on Don Cherry for the Adamville Falcons worst start in franchise history, but can you really blame Cherry?  Sure he is a part of the drafting process and who they rank on there pre draft depth chart.  What the Falcons need to consider is if they need a major shake up.  Henri Richard steps in as interim Head Coach but was he running the forwards effectively as needed prior to Cherry's firing.  GM Adam Wilkinson should take some of the blame for the poor team he drafted.  Obviously the Falcons did have the last pick in this years draft but the skilled players they did not draft such as team captain Daniel Alfredsson and speedster Martin St. Louis are not performing.  The lone bright spot is Ilya Kovalchuk, but other players will need to step up big if the Falcons want to turn this so far wreck of a season around. Looking Ahead: Different Approaches by Different Organizations
The way a coach treats you early in the season is the way you are going to respond all year.  We are not here to tell you who is right and who is wrong we are just simply noting the facts.  In Scott City Head Coach Guy Lafleur announced after the 2-1 loss to Trach City  that the Grrrrowl would be bagskated monday morning after there unsuccesful results.  In Marktown; after they were defeated 3-1 to the hands of the Gilmore Gold Jackets, the Petes finally named their Captain giving the honors to Ryan Smyth hoping to inspire the club heading into their home opener against the Grrrowl.  After losing 5-1 to the Dionland Twisters Fort Macfie Gangbang GM Craig Macfie shook the loss of easily and was quoted by saying "It doesn't matter where you are in the standings after week one. What matters is where you are after week 20." (read more)

In Review: Brantown Slammers Raise Championship Banne
rs

The final piece of the 2005-2006 season was put into place Wednesday night when the Brantown Slammers raised their Western Division and Copenhagen Cup Championship Banners to the rafters of the Brantown Communiplex.  Another thing that came to an end Wednesday night was the celebration from Slammer personnel and a reality check kicked in to get ready for a repeat of last season.  The only returning players Mats Sundin and Peter Forsberg who have been with the Slammer organization from the beginning alongside General Manager Brandon Allen were almost close to shedding tears Wednesday. ( like they did last April when they defeated Scott City) The threesomel felt the pride of Chizdale as the Banners were raised because they know how much it meant to the fans. (read more)

League Shocked As The Jackets Fold For 2008-2009 Season
GILMORE, GC -- Members of the Saskatchewan Hockey League and its fans were shocked to hear of the news that Gilmore Gold Jackets General Manager Hans Johansen announced the Gold Jackets will be unable to compete in the 2008-2009 season and are folding. Fans of the Gold Jackets are heartbroken.  The Jackets are the first folded franchise in SHL history that have won a Copenhagen Cup. The Jackets won the Copenhagen Cup in their inaugural campaign in 2006-2007.  Last year the Jackets were ousted out of the playoff contention in the final week of the regular season and finished in 7th place. The Jackets join a crop of folded SHL franchises in the likes of the Kyle County Ice, Leeville Landcrushers, Trach City Americans, and the recently folded Harperbeach Harpoons.  Not much information has been released as to why the Jackets have folded.  There is also uncertainty surrounding the question if the Jackets are just taking a one year leave of absence and will return next season; much like the Nut Town Natives did in the 2007-2008 campaign only to return for the 2008-2009 season.

A Third Macfie Becomes A GM, Introducing Markerville Six Guns
MARKERVILLE, RF A day after announcing the Gilmore Gold Jackets have folded for the 2008-2009 season the SHL has already announced the teams replacement.  With the competiveness of this league, cities across the nation are constantly bidding to get a team in the league.  Situated on the West Coast in the south western region of Ranchford lies a high scale business orientated city known as Markerville.  The Markerville franchise led by chairman and General Manager Mark Macfie has been bidding for a franchise for over a year, and finally on Tuesday they were granted a spot into the SHL for the 2008-2009 season.  On Tuesday the team name and logo was introduced to the league; the Markerville Six Guns.  For the past two seasons an expansion team has attained first place at the end of the regular season in the SHL.  Only time will tell whether the Six Guns can follow the Gold Jackets and Iceholes and
Markerville Six Guns
obtain first place this year. Mark Macfie joins his brother Craig, GM of the Fort Macfie Gangbang and youngest brother Scott GM of the Scott City Grrrowl as the third Macfie to be a General Manager of a SHL club.  The Macfie's aren't the only family ties in the SHL; brothers Dion and Derek Berg are the General Managers of the Dionland Twisters and Bergland Iceholes respectively.
Associated Press Releases The 2008-2009 Power Rankings
SCOTT CITY, TC -- The Associated Press (AP) has released its third annual Saskatchewan Hockey League Power Rankings.  The AP has for two consecutive years predicted accurate results on how the SHL regular season will span out.  Following the SHL Draft the AP breaks down teams strengths and weaknesses to determine how they predict they will finish in the regular season.  For the past two seasons an expansion team has finished in first place in the regular season.  Will the AP give the nod for first overall to the Markerville Six Guns to see if they can make it a third consecutive year or will they give it to defending Copenhagen Cup Champions the Dionland Twisters or maybe possibly the Bergland Iceholes will repeat as Regular Season Champions.  The Associated Press Power Rankings is a must read. Six Guns Earn A Tie In Their Debut Against The Iceholes
BERGLAND, ED The Markerville Six Guns made their Saskatchewan Hockey League debut at the John Deer Centre in Bergland against the Iceholes and skated off with a 2-2 tie.  The Six Guns offence led by Milan Hejduk was able to match the Iceholes dangerous scoring attack.  The Six Guns will make their home debut next week against the Brantown Slammers.  In other league action the defending Copenhagen Cup Champions Dionland Twisters were denied of a victory against the Olchowyville Leafs thanks to the efforts of Leafs goalie Evgeni Nabokov.  The Adamville Falcons impressed the hometown crowd at the A&W Omniplex with a big 4-1 win over the Scott City Grrrowl.  The biggest win of the week gives the Falcons first place in the league after the first week of play.  The Falcons need a good start after the poor start they got off to last year leading to their worst finish in franchise history.  Nut Town Native fans celebration of being reinstated in the league was short lived as they were downed by the Brantown Slammers 3-1 at the Infinity Centre in Nut Town.  The Marktown Petes never got off to the start they wanted to at their brand new arena Copenhagen Place; they were defeated 4-2 by Joe Thornton and the RumpyVill Roughousers.  Fort Macfie got a big performance out of Paul Kariya as they were able to beat the Gregville Assassins 3-1 to put a end to the first week of the season.
Brian Campbell had an assist for the Six Guns
in their SHL debut on the road in Bergland.
RUMPYVILL, FL After two weeks of play in the Saskatchewan Hockey League the RumpyVill Roughousers find themselves in territory they havent been in since the 2002-2003 season, first place.  Led by Captain Joe Thornton the Housers dumped the defending Copenhagen Cup Champions Dionland Twisters by a score of 4-2 at home in the RumpyVill Sportsplex.  Brantown took over first place in the Western Division. They downed the expansion Markerville Six Guns in their home opener at the brand new Pilsner Center 4-2.  The Adamville Falcons move into second place in the Eastern Division.  They visited the Olchowyville and skated past them 3-2.  Scott City has opened the season for the first time in franchise history with two straight losses.  They were doubled up by Bergland Iceholes 4-2 at the Great Eastern Forum in Scott City.  Fort Macfie had a fight-filled affair against the Marktown Petes that included a third period line brawl which saw Petes GM Mark Peterson go onto the ice at the

OK Corral Center.  Peterson has been suspended one game by the SHL and will not be able to be in the rink for the Petes game next week against the Natives.  Fort Mac won the game 3-1.  Gregville improved to 1-1 after they handed the Nut Town Natives their second loss of the season. The Assassins beat the Natives 4-2 in Gregville.
NUT TOWN, ED -- The Nut Town Natives are the only team in the Saskatchewan Hockey League to start off the 08-09 season with three consecutive losses.  Marktown avoided their third straight loss by defeating the Natives 3-2.  Scott City also avoided three straight losses as they beat the Brantown Slammers at the Brantown Communiplex 3-1.  After having two losses to open the season the Dionland Twisters were able to stage a late third period comeback at home in the Gatorade Center over the visiting Fort Macfie Gangbang.  The Twisters ended up winning the game by a score of 3-1.  The expansion Markerville Six Guns, after beginning the season with a tie and a loss, they lost their second game 3-1 to the hands of the Gregville Assassins. After a horrendous start to the season last year, the Adamville Falcons are on fire with a three game winning streak to commence their 08-09 campaign.  The Falcons had a big win on the road in Bergland at the John Deer Centre.  The Falcons with a big effort from former Gilmore Gold Jacket Zach Parise, who spent his last two seasons in Gilmore, got past the Iceholes 5-1.  The Roughousers are the only other team in the SHL to open the season with three straight wins.  They lost their position in first place to the Falcons; however they were still able to edge the Olchowyville Leafs on the road in Leafville 3-2.

Falcons Unable To Win Four In A Row And Fall To Second Place
Dany Heatley celebrating one of the Falcons two goals in their 4-2 defeat to the Brantown Slammers, the loss puts the Falcons in 2nd place
ADAMVILLE, RF -- The Adamville Falcons fell victim to the depth of the Brantown Slammers and the goaltending of Jean-Sebastien Giguere as they were doubled up by the Slammers at the Brantown Communiplex 4-2.  The loss puts the 3-1 Falcons into second place.  Moving back into first place is the only team in the SHL with a perfect record thus far in the 08-09 season, the RumpyVill Roughousers. The now 4-0 Roughousers got past the Fort Macfie Gangbang 4-2 at the OK Corral Centre in Fort Mac.  The Nut Town Natives terrible start continues; they were downed by the Dionland Twisters 3-2.  Scott City was able to stage a late third period comeback to earn a 3-3 tie at the Manson Family Center against the Assassins.  The expansion Markerville Six Guns are still without their first win, they lost their third game in a row 4-2 to the Marktown Petes, who have now with their second win far outreached their win total from last year of zero.  The Bergland Iceholes took their second beating in as many weeks 5-1 to the Olchowyville Leafs.  The Iceholes who were ranked by the AP to finish in first place, sit in a three-way tie for last place.
Grrrowl Overcome Ward's Strong Effort Between The Pipes
MARKTOWN, HC -- The Marktown Petes were unable to put together their third straight victory in their visit to the Great Eastern Forum in Scott City.  Cam Ward stymied the Grrrowl offence for the most part of the game but it wasnt enough; the Scott City Grrrowl were still able to get past the Petes 2-1.  The Bergland Iceholes horrendous ways continued in week 5, getting blown out for the third straight week.  This week they were stomped by the Brantown Slammers 6-1 at the Brantown Communiplex.  The loss puts the Iceholes in dead last and Iceholes GM Derek Berg in a very tough spot where no one ever thought Bergland would be this year. The Adamville Falcons moved back into first place after they defeated the Gregville Assassins 5-2 at the A&W Omniplex in downtown Adamville.  Nut Town was able to stop their four game losing streak as well as put an end to the Roughousers four game winning streak as the two teams skated to a 3-3 draw at the Infinity Center.  The Olchowyville Leafs led by Alexander Semin moved surprisingly into fourth place after a 5-2 win at home in the Olchowyville Spectrum against the Fort Macfie Gangbang.  The Markerville Six Guns remain winless as a SHL franchise and are now on a four game losing skid.  They were doubled up on the road at the Gatorade Centre in Dionland 4-2.

Slammers Slip Into Leagues Top Spot After Win Against Leafs
Brantown, CD -- The Brantown Slammers have made it to the dance for the last three seasons, so dont be surprised to the see the Slammers flirting with becoming the 08-09 regular season champion.  It looks more possible than ever after their week six 3-1 victory over the Olchowyville Leafs.  The win puts the Slammers one point ahead of the second place RumpyVill Roughousers, the Housers skated past the Markerville Six Guns 4-1.  The Six Guns still remain without a win, they are in second last place with a record of 0-5-1.The Adamville Falcons now sit in third place; the Petes played a solid defensive game at home against Adamville at the Copenhagen Centre and held the Falcons to a 2-2 draw.  The Scott City Grrrowl were embarrassed at home against the Dionland Twisters 6-0.  The injury to Martin Brodeur is really affecting the Grrrowl.  The win allows Dionland to move into fourth place. Bergland remains in last place after the Gregville Assassins were able to sneak past the Iceholes 4-3.  The Nut Town Natives got their first win of the season; they beat the suddenly struggling Fort Macfie Gangbang 3-2.  Fort Mac has lost four straight after beginning the season with two wins.
Shane Doan had a goal and added an assist in the Slammers 3-1 win against the Leafs.
Assassins Knock Slammers Out Of First Place With Road Win
GREGVILLE, HC -- The Gregville Assassins were able to head into the Brantown Communiplex and sneak past the Slammers 3-2.  Gregville got a strong performance out of their top line of Henrik Zetterberg, Jeff Carter, and Mike Richards.  Gregville now sit in sixth place in the SHL standings. The loss puts the Slammers back into third place.  The Bergland Iceholes stormed out of last place this week after suffering four straight losses.  They trounced the Marktown Petes 5-0 at the Copenhagen Centre in Marktown.  The Petes find themselves in familiar territory after a strong start, they are now back in the bottom quarter of the league. Scott City now occupies the last place spot after a 4-0 loss to the RumpyVill Roughousers.  The Grrrowl have been shutout in two consecutive games.  RumpyvVill now sit in first place with a four point lead over the second place Twisters. The Markerville Six Guns are one point ahead of the Grrrowl in eleventh place.  They tied the Fort Macfie Gangbang 3-3.  The Dionland Twisters were able to move into a second place after a win over the Falcons of Adamville 4-2. Nut Town got their second win of the season, they defeated the Olchowyville Leafs 3-2.  It will be a battle of brother GM's next week as the Twisters host the Iceholes and the Grrrowl host the Fort Mac Gangbang.
Nik Antropov celebrates a 2nd
period goal against the Slammers.
Ovechkin's Iceholes Beginning To Show Signs Of Brilliance
BERGLAND, ED Week number eight of the Saskatchewan Hockey League Regular Season was the battle of brother GMs in two games.  Brothers Dion and Derek Berg of the Dionland Twisters and the Bergland Iceholes respectively had their clubs face off against each other at the Gatorade Centre in Dionland.  It appears that Alexander Ovechkin has caught his stride as he led the Iceholes to a 3-2 win over the Twisters.  Brothers Scott and Craig Macfie of the Scott City Grrrowl and the Fort Macfie Gangbang also had their teams in action against each other.  The Grrrowl handed the Gangbang their fourth straight loss in a 5-1 shellacking at the Great Eastern Forum.  The Markerville Six Guns record is now 0-6-2.  They fell into last place after the Nut Town Natives defeated them by a score of 3-1.  The RumpyVill Roughousers saw their undefeated record go up in smoke in week eight.  A balanced attack from the Falcons led the en route to a 4-3 win over the Housers.  Brantown moved up into second place with a 3-2 win at home over the Marktown Petes.  Olchowyville and Gregville clashed at the Manson Family Centre with the game ending a 3-3 draw.  Olchowyville sits in fifth place with the Assassins one point behind in the sixth and final playoff spot.
Alexander Ovechkin had two goals to help the Iceholes in a 3-2 win over the host Twisters.
Streaky Scott City Start Slow Climb Out Of The Cellar
SCOTT CITY, TC -- The Streaky Scott City Grrrowl put together their second straight win at the lifeless Infinity Centre in Nut Town.  Lead by the efforts of Jonathon Toews who seems to breaking out of his sophomore slump, the Grrrowl downed the Nut Town Natives 4-1.  RumpyVill reclaims first place for another week, the 7-1-1 Housers doubled up on the Bergland Iceholes 4-2.  The Dionland Twisters and Brantown Slammers had an exciting game at the Gatorade Center.  Brantown led by SHL leading scorer Evgeni Malkin couldnt get the W due to the balanced attack of the Twisters.  The two squads battled to a 3-3 draw.  Congratulations Markerville Six Guns on your first win as a SHL franchise! The Six Guns used a big performance from first liners Jason Spezza and Milan Hejduk en route to a 3-2 victory against the Olchowyville Leafs. Gregville is a on a four game undefeated streak and climb up to the leagues fourth spot after a 5-0 pounding over the Marktown Petes. Fort Mac hadnt won in six games but ended that streak in there visit to the A&W Omniplex in beautiful Adamville, FL.  The Gangbang benefitted off a hat trick performance from Phil Kessel and got past the Falcons 4-1.
Todd Bertuzzi takes to the ice at the Infinity Center in Nut Town. Bertuzzi had two assists in the Grrrowl's 4-1 win vs the Natives.
Twisters Acquire Patrice Bergeron From The Grrrowl
DIONLAND, RF -- A move Thursday morning seen two original six franchises exchange players.  The Dionland Twisters shipped veteran RW Brian Gionta to the Scott City Grrrowl for twenty-three year old C Patrice Bergeron.  Grrrowl GM Scott Macfie commented via telephone from his lake side resort home in Scott City that Patrice wasnt putting up the numbers we were expecting from him after we picked him up in the 9th round.  He hasnt been able to get back to his old self since the concussion he suffered last year. We thought a change of scenery would be best for him and we are extremely happy with acquiring Brian Gionta. Twister GM Dion Berg stated at a press conference at the Gatorade Center I feel like I got rid of some dead weight and picked up a solid player who is just waiting to break out under the right system, which Scott City just doesnt have.  Berg's comments didnt go over too well with Macfie and the only thing he had to say is this can be settled at the Christmas Classic hockey game on December 23rd between Berg and himself by squaring off at center ice.
Patrice Bergeron practices with the Dionland Twisters for the first time Friday morning in preperation for their game against Gregville.
4th Annual SHL All-Star Game To Be Played In RumpyVill
RUMPYVILL, FL -- It was announced earlier today that RumpyVill, FL will be the host of the 4th Annual Saskatchewan Hockey League All-Star Game.  The last time RumpyVill hosted a SHL event was the 2005 Draft.  Things are really starting to look up in South Flexington after a couple dismal seasons from the Roughousers.  The housers last made the playoffs back in the 2003-2004 season.  This year things are different; the housers are in first place with a four point lead on the second place Brantown Slammers.  Fans in RumpyVill are ecstatic with the housers success and now the announcement that they will be the host of the All-Star Game.  Last years game was played in Dionland at the Gatorade Center.  The SHL wasnt too happy with the shady game the Twister organization put on for the league.  The game wasnt broadcasted nationally due to a broadcasting failure at the Dionland Broadcasting Corporation.  The West defeated the East 5-4, but some concerns were raised after the game on the homer refereeing the Twister organization hired for the game.  The previous two games were held in Scott City in 2007 and Adamville in 2006. The SHL has implicated a system in which the host organization of the All-Star Game will alternate Divisions from year to year. Next year the game will toggle back to a Western Division team.  The favorites to host the game are the Marktown Petes and Brantown Slammers organizations.  The All-Star teams will be picked by the General Managers of the SHL in early January.  The game is scheduled for 2:00pm EST Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the RumpyVill Sportsplex.
FORT MACFIE, ED -- Despite a win last week to snap a six game winless skid, the Fort Macfie Gangbang are struggling.  They have now only won one of their last eight after the Bergland Iceholes came into the OK Corral Center this weekend and dominated the Gangbang; winning by a score of 6-1.   Rewind back to week four and the Adamville Falcons suffered their first loss of the season which knocked them from first place down to second place. After the Falcons suffered a 5-0 blow out courtesy of the Nut Town Natives the Falcons now sit in seventh place. Rewind back to week six and the Scott City Grrowl were in dead last.  After shutting out the lowly Markerville Six Guns 5-0, the Grrowl are arguably the hottest team in the SHL with a three-game winning streak. They are tied with the Falcons for seventh place and sit only one point out of a playoff spot.   It was a week of blowouts as the Olchowyville Leafs crossed provincial borders and hammered the Marktown Petes 6-1. Gregville put together their second straight shut out victory.  The Assassins hosted the defending

Copenhagen Cup Champions, Dionland Twisters.  Gregville blanked the Twisters 5-0.  Gregville sit in third place; two points out of first.
