An Article From The Gregville Time's April O'Neil
GREGVILLE, HC The 2008-2009 Saskatchewan Hockey League season is ready to begin. All twelve teams from last year will be returning with one goal of capturing the Copenhagen Cup. The computer randomized draft order will be announced 30 minutes prior to the first round beginning. Petes GM Mark Peterson commented on this years draft stating The Petes are looking to drastically improve in this years draft. The last draft was a joke. Nobody in our organization was working together, everybodys heads were in different places hopefully this year with new faces behind the bench we will do better, not only on the ice, but at the draft.
The draft will allow last years basement dwellers to start fresh and take a run for first place. Last years Copenhagen Cup Champions the Dionland Twisters have partying hard in the off-season. Dont let that fool you that Twisters GM Dion Berg hasnt been scouting for this years line up.
Last years draft in Fort Macfie seen some flight troubles which led to three SHL GMs being unable to attend the draft in person. The GMs that missed the draft were Jackets Hans Johansen, Assassins Greg Manson, and Petes Mark Peterson.
As of right now it looks promising that all twelve General Managers will be in attendance for Sundays draft. The only organization in Gregville at press time are the Scott City Grrrowl. Grrrowl GM Scott Macfie commented We are taking a hard look at all scenarios we may undertake in the draft, depending on our first pick ranging from first to twelfth pick. We have a pretty good idea what we are going to do and we are confident in what our scouting staff has contributed to the organization this summer.
The draft is set to begin at 7:30pm Saskatchewan time this Sunday September 28that the Manson Family Centre in Gregville, HC. Tickets for the event were sold out a couple hours after they were released to the public. You will be able to watch the draft live on the Assassins television network A-Channel. |
