| The Venkish peoples came from the extreme northwest and settled down into an area that is now the Buchlayne, Kovlich, Margova, and the Throecian Empire. There they intermingled with the existing Ollak natives of present-day Kovlich and Throecia. The Venkes then swept down south through the Desert Edge Mountains and settled into present-day Zhivod, Their last great migration was east, where they stopped neaer what is now Verundhi and conquered the Arkaan peoples in the north of that subcontinent. The Ollak peoples originated in the northern part of the Arkaan continent, and travelled northward up the Ollak Strip into the areas of what is now the Lugalate of Nur and Akkatomia. They gradually spread eastword into present-day Verundhi and intermingled with both the Venkish and Arkaan peoples there. They also spread west where they encountered the Venkes again near modern-day Kovlich and Throecia. The Arkaans originated in the extreme southern parts of Atkira and also the Verundhian subcontinent (which some scholars believe were once joined together). They did not conquer externally like the Venkes, but built up their own areas internally. The Jimhi peoples are found throughout the continents. They are said to come from the eastern part of the Great Desert, back in time when it was not a desert but a fertile valley. Off-shoots of the race can be found in the Eastern Provinces of the Supreme Empire. |

| Character Concepts | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Human characters are the standout members of their race. Successful humans often become vastly powerful, ruling entire nations or becoming counselors of kings and generals. Human characters are drawn from many backgrounds. Some are raised for a life of adventure, while others find the path as escaped slaves, runaway apprentices, or simply farmers' children who hear the call of their heroic hearts. Barbarian All barbarians are relatively rare in Samoth, particularly in the more civilized nations. In Buchlayne Major, most of the barbarian tribes were either wiped-out or converted to AEtonism and "civilized" centuries ago. The few remaining barbarian nations can be found in the Esorian Highlands and in Stadhof. The barbarians of Buchlayne Minor can be found thinly scattered in the outlying areas of Kovlich and Margova, and as desert dervishes in Zhivod. The continent of Atkira is home to many barbarian nations, which live mainly in the southern part of the continent. There are no barbarian tribes left in Verundhi, but there are some to be found in the remote jungle, desert, and mountain regions of Sonsia. Zhivod Dervish (Variant): You are a member of a proud tribe of nomads who make their home in one of the most inhospitable regions on the continent, the fiery deserts of Zhivod. You do have contact with the other more "civilized" societies, but you would never give up your freedom for the constricting ways of city life. Your tribe does trade with other peoples when it sees fit, and so you have access to a good array of weapons and equipment. Your loyalty is to the tribe first and to yourself second. Having left the tribe for an adventuring life, you earned the scorn and disrepsect of your elders, but you are determined to find a better way of life for your people so they don't have to go hungry and thirsty so often. Suggested Skills: Handle Animal, Heal, Ride, Survival Suggested Feats: Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Weapon Focus (Scimitar) Suggested PrCs: Dervish (Quintessential Barbarian) Bard This class covers a wide array of entertainers, historians, storytellers, and morale boosters. They are common throughout the World Continent, not just as musicians and singers, but as important repositories of ancient lore and forgotten cultures. In the continents of Buchlayne Major and Minor, many bards can be found in the countries of Courriseux, the Imperial Theocracy, and the City of Ryn. In the far east, bards tend to focus more on the acting craft than on singing. They are entertainers and masters of court intrigue. Ibaran Court Artisan (Variant): You are a rarity among those in the Supreme Empire, a commoner who is training to be allowed to have access to the Emperor's Sun Court. Your bard skills will be used to perform Noh or Kabuki drama (a combination of singing, acting, and dancing) for the Emperor. You have also learned the highly valuable skills of calligraphy, origami, flower arranging, landscape gardening, and painting. Your skills are highly sought after by nobles and religious figures in the nicest establishments in the Empire. You have begun a life of adventuring to broaden your skills and for a chance to learn something that no other Court Artisan knows. Suggested Skills: Perform (Noh or Kabuki), Craft (Calligraphy, Origami, Flower arranging), Profession (Artisan), Gather Information, Diplomacy Suggested Feats: Student of the Arts, Versatile Suggested PrCs: Artisan (Rokugan) |
