The Mythic History of the AEtonist Faith: 3 | ||||||||||||
| The Challenge & The Tenets: What is the afterlife believed to be like, and how does one get there? | |||||||||||||
| In conjunction with the Five Pillars are the Seven Correct Aspects of Living: 1. Correct views. 2. Correct aspirations. 3. Correct speech. 4. Correct conduct 5. Correct livelihood. 6. Correct effort. 7. Correct mindfulness. By following the Correct Aspects, a member of the faith will have a firm base upon which to follow the Five Pillars (e.g., a"Correct View" is that AEton is the only god). When one of the faithful can achieve all of the Correct Aspects to accomplish the Five Pillars, he is said to have reached a state of enlightenment. This is much more difficult than it sounds and most people strive continuously throughout their birth-life-rebirth cycle to reach this state. |

| The Future: Are there any legends about the future of the world? | |||||||||||||
| All AEtonists believe that it is their duty to help create a paradise in the mortal world. To accomplish this goal, most AEtonists live their day-to-day lives with an attitude of leaving the world in "better shape" than they found it, and teaching their children to do the same. AEton, the Patrons and Matrons, and the Hallowed Prophets, are constantly being checked in this goal of creating an earthly paradise by demonic forces, who seek to corrupt mortal beings and subject them to an eternity of damnation. This constant battle between good and evil will eventually end in a cataclysmic battle (the Last Day) upon the planet Sudor which will destroy all seven planets and the Chrysaar moon. At the end of the battle, the demons will be banished forever, and all mortals will earn their just rewards as indicated by the 3rd Pillar of Faith. | |||||||||||||
| Main Events and Holy Days: What are the main legends and holy days of the faith? | |||||||||||||
| The Creation: This event is taught to all AEtonists. The Fall from Grace: This event is also known to all AEtonists. The Receiving of the Holy Canon: The legend of how AEton brought his Prophet, Dorren, to the Spiritual Paradise and dictated the Holy Canon to him is well-known to all AEtonists. It is a popular story that is often acted out by children in plays during the Holy Celebration of the Founding. The Stories of the Hallowed Sixteen: The legends behind who the Hallowed Sixteen are and how they came to be enlightened are known to all AEtonists. Note that although in modern-day Esoria the dwarves and orcs do not follow the AEtonist faith, at one time in history each race was blessed with an enlightened leader who became a Hallowed Prophet of AEtonism (hence Hallowed Karment, the Enlightened Dwarf, and Hallowed Brackle, the Enlightened Orc). The Hallowed Descendants: Certain sects of AEtonism believe that the Hallowed Sixteen had children who were especially blessed by AEton. Mainstream AEtonists do not believe this legend (and many have not been exposed to it). There are sixteen different sects, each of which keeps tracks of the lineage and genealogy of one of the Hallowed Sixteen. Those who are claimed to be descended from Most Hallowed Dorren are particularly watched with interest. There are many other Holy Days and Festivals that are celebrated throughout the year (usually on a smaller scaler than the main festivals listed above). All of these celebrations are based upon legends of the Faith, including the First Enlightenment of Dorren, the Founding of the Holy Armaments (the sword, spear, and dagger which were used to martyr Hallowed Gilias, the First Martyr; these ancient weapons are now holy relics held by the Pontifex Rex in Esoria), and the Building of the First Temple. |

| The Pantheon: Who are the main gods and what are their atributes? | |||||||||||||
| AEton is the only god of this faith (and, in fact, is considered by AEtonists to be the only god in the universe). He represents most domains in one way or another. The Patrons and Matrons are too numerous to list. The Hallowed Sixteen are listed on the following page. |
