So much for the theory that the journey home is always faster than the journey away! Obviously, whoever started that rumour hadn't just spent 15 HOURS in 41degree heat on an interstate train with two young children, no airconditioning, signal failure, warped tracks and a rail strike to garnish! Refrigeration failure meant no buffet car, and even the water in the cold tap was boiling due to the tanks being up in the roof. As you can see, we were hardly dressed for the climate, having expected the carriages to be fully airconditioned, but at least the children were able to strip off!! |
