In order to save her kidnapped sister, Joan must travel with Jack through jungles. These men have kidnapped her sister to get to Joan, who has an ancient family map of a treasure that they and others want. This exciting and fun movie will keep you in suspense all the way to the end!
A young South African white boy grows up in a time of turmoil: apartheid, racism, hatred, and violence. He is left alone when his family dies, and ends up spending most of his time at a prison where his uncle is, learning to box. He improves greatly, and boxes his way through life in that time, while helping the oppressed Africans against apartheid. Very poignant and sad, but so powerful...a great story.
This is a French movie based upon the classic story of the same title. It is long, and in subtitles, but it is exciting and romantic. The dashing sword fights, romantic speeches, daring warfare, and heartwarming tale is sure to touch the hearts of all who watch.
It seems as if our main hero is the "Swamp Fox" but that is not neccessarily the case. He is a man with a group of other hearty men who know the swampland, trying to defend their families and their land from the British. This is a sweet, but violent and can be quite upsetting. Definitely not for the faint of heart, or the young.
This is a touching story about a man who admitted himself to a psychiactric clinic, only to discover how much he wanted to help others. Patch is a goofy, fun-loving, sensitive man who sets out to help those who are sick. However, it seems that every single straight-laced professor or roomate tries to stop him. This movie is delightful--funny and touching.
A young black teacher applied to a London school of delinquent boys and girls, and was accepted. He immedietly realized the situation he was into: a difficult one, full of children that had no manners, no dignity, and not much good left in them. Taking the name of 'sir' he began to whip them into shape. This is a very touching and uplifting movie, with a great song by Lulu of the same title.
This movie is set during the War of 1812. General Jackson must do some dealings with the privateer Jean Lafitte to help him win the war against the British. This produces much grumblings from citizens, and some anger develops. It is a great classic movie, though!
When the president wants to have some privacy to have some time with his mistress, the secret service needs a new guy to stand in for a while. Dave is a local guy who helps out people in the town find jobs. He looks just like the president and does impressions of him for the town fairs. So, Dave is recruited by the secret service. Only his stay ends up being longer when the president falls into a coma. After changing a lot of things in the White House and Congress for the better, the First Lady begins suspecting things. However, the country has no idea...and Dave is loving the job...
Alfred Hitchcock's great film is all about the view of the neighborhood from a back apartment window. A young photographer breaks his leg, and keeps himself entertained by watching his neighbors and having his girlfriend and nurse over. One night, he believes that one of his neighbors killed his wife and buried her in the garden. To prove this and to end the suspense, the movie follows their investigation all from the view of that window.
Another Hitchcock great. It is about two young, cocky college students who believe that they can pull off murder and still throw the party they planned on that evening, inviting the man's family and friends. They do murder the man, and then keep him in a trunk in which they place plates over. They do well until a professor and friend arrives, and begins to ask questions. This movie is all in one evening, and shot from one room.
A civilian scout for the US Cavalry discusses peace and terms with the Apache Indians after much fighting between the two. While discussing this, the scout falls in love with a young Indian girl, and they wed. This is a classic great, actually taking the side of the Indians. It is about the first crossover film of acceptance, staking its place in film history forever.
A happy family (rare for Hitchcock films!) travels to Morrocco, touristing. They become entangled in an assasination plot when befriending someone on a bus, and their son is kidnapped. This thriller is one that will definitely keep your interest...if not, it'll at least keep you on the edge of your seat.
This zany, hilarious movie is about two guys who go up to Bernie's, who is supposedly the greatest guy for parties on the beach. Unfortunately, the brute Bernie was killed shortly before they arrived. To keep the party going and their social status as high as they got it now, they take Bernie through the night...even though he's dead.
