This movie follows the career of Mr. Holland as a music teacher for a number of decades and all of the musical news that affects him. His son is born deaf, throwing a very touching and interesting subplot in. Mr. Holland teaches a tough music class every year, but unknowingly to him, touching his students in such a way that brings a tear to every teacher's eye. When the music program at his school is being cut out, the touching ending including Mr. Holland's opus will make you smile and cry at the same time.
A New York reporter, Sue Charlton, travels to Australia to cover a number of stories, the final one being about a man whose leg was mangled by a crocodile--Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee. They trek around the bush so she can cover her story, running into humorous situations for Mic and scary ones for Sue. There is a romantic spark between them, but Sue is already taken. Even so, she decides to take him back to New York City with her, the first city he's ever been to. His travels and days in New York are hilarious. It's a cute movie, with the greatest ending ever.
This is the second movie of the now 3 (!!!) Crocodile Dundee movies. Sue's ex-husband sends her film of a report important to a Colombian drug bust. The leaders of the drug ring want them, and will do anything to get them. So Sue and Mic leave to Australia where Mic can control the movements in his native land, right after he rescues her from being held in a mansion of the Colombian drug ring leader. In Australia, Mic and friends trick, confuse, and capture the members of the drug ring. The ending is almost as good as the first one, too! It's still very funny, and very good.
Each movie is based upon the Gene Roddenberry 60's tv series, Star Trek. The first is a rigid beginning for the classic Enterprise crew. They travel, adventuring, and end up trying to save a machine, V'ger. The second entangles the crew with a viscious enemy of their past: Khan. Khan wants the rebuilding device, Genesis, and Kirk must keep it out of his hands. However, to save the ship and crew, Spock dies. The third is the crew's noble search for Spock once they realize his casket was found on the planet that Genesis was launched on. He, along with the planet are unstabily regenerating, and now the Klingons are in on the deal to own the planet. In this movie, Kirk's son dies. The fourth is a hilarious movie that takes the crew back to the 1980's on their way home from Vulcan after taking Spock home to get him well. They run into a probe that is destroying the planet, trying to communicate with the extinct humpback whales. They go back in time to retrieve some to repopulate them in the future. The fifth is about Spock's half brother and his search for God. Kirk and crew try to stop him from his craziness, but the process is difficult and dangerous. The sixth is an exciting mystery. Kirk and McCoy are sentenced to a Klingon penal colony after unfairly tried for the death of a Klingon general on a peace mission. That is the last of the original series crews' movies, and has a poignant ending. The seventh brings in the Next Gen bunch, as they try to stop a madman from disrupting the universe by altering the course of a time ribbon. Kirk had been caught in that ribbon 80 years before, and the two captains meet and work together to stop him. It does result, though, in Kirk's death. The eighth film is all about the Borg going back to earth in the 21st century, trying to assimilate it. Picard goes back in time too to stop it, since first contact with the first warp drive trip will occur at the point the Borg want to take over. The Borg Queen is involved, and be careful, if you don't like eyes being drilled, don't watch certain parts! The lastest movie is about a secretive immoral mission being done by a few admirals in Starfleet, relocating a group of people from their planet that continuously regenerates their DNA from the rings. Picard returns to stop them and save the people. There will be a Star Trek X coming up soon...probably this winter or the very beginning of next year. It will be called Star Trek X: Nexxus. I'm so excited!
This movie is based on the classic book by James Fenimore Cooper. It is a great story of the French and Indian War, or the Seven Years War in Europe. It is very violent, however, and not good for young children. There is a sweet romance between many of the characters, and a lot of action on a off of the battlefield. It is quite the drama, with a wonderful soundtrack.
A lounge singer witnesses a murder done by her lover, a mobster. To not get herself killed, she goes into hiding while the police try to catch the mobsters. She hides in a convent, as a nun. Since she sings, she works with the lacking choir, and transforms them into a hit show with the neighborhood other than a sleeper. Very cute, and lots of fun.
