| Welcome the official website for the YMCA Camp Tockwogh Regatta. Camp Tockwogh is an overnight camp located right on the Chesapeake Bay. Sailing is one of our most popular programs here at Tockwogh given our great location. Tockwogh has had a long history of building the minds, bodies, and spirits of young men and women on the Chesapeake. | Now having a little background information about Camp Tockwogh, it is time to get to the heart of the matter. On Wednesday July 14th, 2004 Tockwogh is hosting a regatta for youth sailors. Although the regatta will be more focused on beginner sailors, all ability levels are welcome. Our campers alone will be racing in fourteen Lasers (a mixture of radials and fulls), between fifteen and twenty Sunfish, and hopefully ten Optimists. If you are new to the sport, this regatta will help teach you how to race in larger fleets, and most of our campers will be beginner racers as well. Even if you are a skilled racer, this regatta provides an opportunity to hone your racing skills in large fleets and is good practice for the larger regattas later in the season. We hope to have a regatta that is centered more on fun than competition, and we would love to see as many people out there as possible this summer and hope to have a great day on the water. | Lunch: Will be provided by our kitchen staff at Tockwogh. Both juice and water will be made available throughout the day and you are encouraged to bring your own food and drinks if you like. That being said, alcoholic beverages of any kind are not permitted on camp grounds and we ask that you do not bring them. Safety: Please keep in mind that we are a summer camp with roughly four hundred campers per session and that safety is a huge concern for us. There will be several safety boats out on the water during the regatta and our entire waterfront staff is lifegaurd certified. Please look over the safety section of this site for further concerns. |
