| Committees During my involvement with pedigree dogs, I have served on the committees of the All Breeds Dog Club of WA, the Fremantle Dog Club, the Metropolitan Kennel Club, the Setter & Sporting Spaniel Society of WA, the Gundog Club of WA, and the Dog Judges Association of WA. I joined, as a committee member, the WA Toy Dog Specialist Club in 1983 and was elected President in the October of that year, serving for 2 years, before moving into the position of Treasurer in 1985, a position I held also for 2 years. I remained on the committee for a further 2 years, holding the position of Vice President in 1987. I re-joined the committee in 1997 and have held the position of President since that time. I have also served on the committees of the Canine Association of WA [CAWA] Official Measuring Committee and the CAWA Dog Shop Committee. Employment I am employed as Supervisor of Nursing Services at Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital, returning to the University following a period of two years as Western Australias Professional Services Manager for Uncle Bens of Australia [a division of the PEDIGREE company and a part of the MARS organisation]. I commenced my training at the hospital in 1987, and became a permanent member of general nursing staff in 1989. My role is to supervise a team of some 25 qualified & registered Veterinary Nurses and 5 Animal Carers, in the various specialty departments of the hospital - Small Animal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, Small Animal Critical & Emergency Care, Small Animal Oncology, Small Animal Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Large Animal Medicine and Large Animal Surgery. Prior to my appointment as Supervisor of Nursing Services in October 2000, I was Senior Nurse in the Small Animal Surgery Department, where my primary responsibility was to assist in the surgical repair of small animals, mostly dogs and cats, but occasionally zoo, marine, avian, and native animals. I am also trained in the care of horses, cattle and other farm animals, and performed these amongst my many duties during the first six years at the University. A major component of my clinical responsibilities, is the teaching and maintenance of standards of asepsis in our clinical and teaching surgeries with the fourth and final year veterinary students.
