Uriel
(Richard, Nel)
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Fallen. Uriel, real name unknown, is a demon, or Fallen Angel, who arrived in Maiden Newton seeking to serve his infernal masters by destroying the sacred building of the Cathedral of St John the Baptist, and replacing it with a huge monument to Satan. With the presence of the Society of Leopold, Uriel seized upon this unique opportunity and transformed his visage and demeanour to that of Uriel, the Angel of Death, and twisted the mortal Inquisitors so that he could manipulate them with ease. Using them as his tools, Uriel arranged for a series of attacks against the Cainites and Lupines of the city - for they still had the power among them (if utilised properly) to stop his plans. The culmination of these attacks was an arrangement with the Black Spiral Dancer, Kr'Trth, who led the Maiden Newton Sabbat into a trap; Uriel laid a powerful curse upon all of the Cainites present - including Grand Inquisitor Anthony Livingstone - that effectively muzzled them; the subjects of the curse became unable to inflict any kind of harm, whether direct or indirect, against any mortal living creature - including Lupines and Uriel - who was in possession of a mortal host. This obviously proved quite a problem for the Cainites, and therefore Livingstone and the rest of the city's Sabbat set out to destroy Uriel.

Uriel had not, however, reckoned on the might and faith of
Indrid Cold, leader of the darkly fanatical Prophets and resident of the Cathedral; once Uriel's plans began to unfold,
Cold was able to best the Fallen in a contest of wills, breaking the curse on the Sabbat, although seemingly at the cost of the Nosferatu's own unlife. With the curse lifted and the Cainites able to harm Uriel, a great battle ensued, in which the Society of Leopold - still convinced that Uriel was who he claimed to be - joining in. However, the ultimate destruction of Uriel's body proved a mighty blow to the Inquisitors, and the mortal vampire hunters were forced to flee.

Having once been banished by the Sabbat, Uriel has found a way back to the mortal realm, through the foolishness of the Tremere infernalist
Toby, who summoned him and gave him the opportunity to possess another body. This time, however, Uriel has not taken control of a mortal, but a Cainite: Abigail. Her madness and short temper aside, Uriel has thus far found his new host very suitable, and is now using her to plot his revenge on the Sabbat of Maiden Newton.

Uriel's time came, however, when the Malkavian
antitribu, Luthor Delane, enlisted the help of the newly-formed Alliance of Maiden Newton to purge Abigail of the demon from his friend, who was at the time again trying to raise his monument. In the end, Luthor was forced to diablerise Abigail, taking her into himself, and thereby expelling Uriel. What has become of the demon now is not known, btt it is doubtful that he will allow this matter to remain unresolved.
