| Faade and Background: This Faction was inspired by the First Nephilim, Baados, to the degree of the Cult being essentially a Nephilim religion built around him. No current members know who set up the Cult, but this is irrelevant to them, for they all share a common belief and goal: creating a total harmonious union between the Human and Nephilim races. The Cult have a very difficult task ahead of them; most Humans distrust the Nephilim, even if they keep such opinions to themselves, but the overt actions and philosophies of the Zealots and the Berserkers, not to mention the subtle propaganda and silent schemes of the latinus scholari, are enough to make such an endeavour almost fruitless. Still, the Baados Cultists strive onwards, sure in their beliefs, and with faith in their hearts that one day their dream will be achieved. The Cult welcomes any new initiates with a clean slate, preaching that Baados forgives all to those who repent. This could unfortunately be its own downfall; already there are whispers that the Cult has been infiltrated by one or more Zealots. Cultists are very adept with the Blessings of Baados Aptitude, and teach it to any who new members who prove themselves worthy of the sacred teachings. Most Cultists live communally in monasteries, spread out all across the World, and representatives of each monastery meet regularly at Conclaves, to which any initiated Cultist, whether a lone preacher or a member of a monastery, is welcome to attend. The Conclaves usually occur in the House of Baados, the largest of the Cults monasteries, in the city of Davlas in the Emerald Kingdom, but Conclaves can be called and held anywhere where the Cults presence is felt. Each monastery is run and administrated by a High Priest, and all Cultists, including the High Priest, are expected to pull their weight in all the chores and duties of the monastery, as well as to own and regularly read from a copy of the Decree of Baados, the book that serves as a guide and companion for the Cultists. Visitors, both Human and Nephilim, are always made welcome, and are offered shelter, sustenance, and guidance from the Decree of Baados. Reality: The Cult of Baados is a haven for disillusioned and outcast Nephilim, who find some comfort in the teachings of the Cult. The Decree of Baados is a collection of idealistic works and teachings, which did not come from the First Nephilim at all (since there were no other Nephilim around to record such documents), but are instead the collected works of the early High Priests. The Cult is very nave; although there may well be true unified peace between Humans and Nephilim one day, the Cult is going about it the wrong way with their pacifist nature in a bitter and war-torn world. Their biggest rivals, the Zealots, see to it that the Cult is ridiculed by all outsiders, and any opportunity they get to discredit the Cult is taken. The High Priests (or at least most of them) are not stupid, and do realise the antagonistic efforts of the Zealots, but foolishly do nothing to quell them, instead relying on the misguided belief that Humanity will see through such falsehoods, and will embrace the Nephilim race as brothers. Character Creation Guidelines: No Cultist would ever dream of learning any of the directly harmful Aptitudes, such as Entropic Force and Entropic Vita, or any of the Three Paths. The Blessings of Baados are very common, but are only taught to new initiates once they have proven themselves in some way. |
