The Branch Davidian Compound
Eeyore is a beacon of warning when things are turning somber along the gravel roads east of Waco.
The compound's remains were cleared after it burned down, April 19, 1993.
The small visitors center is only open occasionally, and was closed when we visited. It's run by Branch Davidian members who live in a trailer a few feet away.
A church now stands on the site of the compound.
Cyprus trees were planted for each of the cult members who died and the ATF agents who died in the initial raid that began the standoff.
This one is planted for 18-year-old Shari Doyle.
The pool is one of the few noticeable remnants.
There are markers on stone and wooden posts to mark areas that once stood in and around the compound.
The Davidians' bus was next to the compound when it burned.
