RUNS LIKE WIND - THE RACE
An excerpt from Chapter Three
The Race

As his vision cleared he was astonished by what he saw. There were almost a hundred horses and almost as many men, women, and children moving across the plains toward his camp. He jumped to his feet followed by Lightning, who was also awakened by the commotion.
"Who were these people?" he asked himself. He had not seen anyone who looked like them before. Surely they had to be friendly, or they would not just ride into our camp. They would have sent a war party in ahead of them, he reasoned. All he really knew was that he had never seen the likes of them before.
He rushed down the hill toward his camp as quickly as he could. He ran as fast as he had ever run, leaving only a trail of dust trailing behind him.
