RUNS LIKE WIND - THE JOURNEY
An excerpt from Chapter Five
The Journey

The three boys and Lightning raced through the camp running as fast as their legs would carry them. They moved past the last tepee and out onto the plains.
As the new born sun cast its first light across the ground it stretched the boys shadows far out in front of them. These shadows were ten times larger than the boys themselves and made it look as though the boys were giants running into battle.
All three boys felt a huge surge of excitement. It was a feeling that none of them had felt before. They ran with a newborn sense of freedom and independence. For the next few days these three boys would be totally on their own. There would be no one to watch over them. No one to tell them what to do. They could do what ever they wanted to do or not do what ever they did not want to do. None of them had ever experienced such a grownup feeling.
