| The air was clean and crisp. The boy took in deep breaths of it that filled his body with energy. It made him feel as though he could run forever. The expression on his face, the sparkle in his eyes and an enchanting smile that ran deep into the corners of his mouth told the world how happy he was. He was doing what he enjoyed so much and what came so naturally to him. This is what life is all about, he thought as he ran. He was happy just to be alive. The morning had started out quiet cold considering that it was early spring. But as the sun rose he felt the warmth of its rays upon his cold skin and a warm breeze in his face, taking away the chill from his body. This made the boy feel even better as he ran even faster. 3 |

This boy was given the name Runs Like Wind by his people because of his speed and love of running. It was an ability they concidered to be a gift from the great spirits. He often played games with other boys of his tribe, whom he could easily beat. But even though this made him feel proud he would some-times let a younger one win, so they too could feel such pride. The other children looked up to him with great respect and affection. 4 |
