For those interested in the 10K Group...

The 10K group is still going strong and will continue through the winter, but since the nights are getting darker, we will be meeting at the upper parking lot of the Visitor's Center in
Valley Forge Park*(Change of meeting place: we will meet at the LOWER parking lot at the Visitor's Center (not the upper) - near the bathrooms and water fountain.) at 6:00 pm on Mondays, starting Monday October 20th.
Weather and light permitting we'll try to continue to run on trails for the first part of the run, finishing on the paved path or roads as the evening gets dark.
See you Monday!
If anyone has any questions please contact me -Mary Wood.

During the Autumn & Summer Months:

The 10K group now meets at the upper VISITORS CENTER parking lot in Valley Forge park at 6:00pm Monday evening(and no longer at Washington's Headquarters).

During the Winter Months:

We meet at 6:30pm at the Valley Forge Middle School Track. Travelling directions are located below or on the main page. Look for us under the street lamp in the middle of the parking lot.
Format is similar to Saturday mornings. We meet as a group to start,
then generally split into two or three groups depending on the pace and effort people want to run.

The courses wind through Chesterbrook on the residential streets or along the boulevard where there is a wide shoulder.
It is generally well lit, but reflective gear is recommended for safety.

Please join us. It's a great way to get out when the winter weather is a minor deterrent.
* 10K Group meets on Monday Nights all year round.

Directions:

From the South (Great Valley):

Take 202, exit at Chesterbrook Blvd., turn left and follow Chesterbrook Blvd to Valley Forge Rd.
Turn left, then left again at the next road (traffic light), then turn right into the first driveway into the parking lot.

From the North (King of Prussia):

Take 202, exit at 252 North, Valley Forge Rd., turn right and follow Valley Forge Rd to the third light.

Why Do I Run? A Confession.

Hamstring Stretch

Your hamstring muscles originate at the sit bones and insert on the back of the tibia in the lower leg. Tightness in this area can cause low back, hip, and knee pain and even foot and ankle pain. To stretch this muscle group:

  1. Sit on the floor with one leg straight and the other leg bent so that your legs form the number "4."
  2. Bend your torso forward until a stretch is felt in your straightened leg at the back of the thigh.
  3. Make sure when you bend forward you lead with your chest and not with your head.
  4. Hold the stretch for 30 seconds and perform three to five times. Repeat on your other leg.
