Walk-to-Run Transitional Program

This new program could be geared to whoever signs up. We would advertise it to beginner runners and those wishing to become runners.
The "race" we chose should certainly be one where walking and running would be appropriate.
It is still in the planning stages with the important points
-- time of year (the warm weather has tto be with us),
feeling comfortable with the group and one's own abilities
(having a mentor and participating in 5 weeks of very individual instruction and attention will help),
commitment (after 5 weeks the beginner will have an idea if running is really for them).
For those of you who like the idea and want to "sign-up" (so far I've received 5 of these notes), please address your comments just to me.

On March 2, 2002- our program for walkers who want to become runners began. The group met each Saturday morning at 8:30 AM at Betzwood(at the start of the bike path) and walk/run between 30-60 mins on the bike trail.
This will be an easygoing group emphasizing transitioning walkers and beginner runners.
Our goal is to run the 5K Race for the Cure in mid-May (Mother's Day).
Interested participants should be currently walking 20-30 mins around 3-4 times per week. This is a pilot program and will run every Saturday for 10 weeks.

After that, we will get feedback from participants to determine what changes to make in the future.
Contact Laura for a training schedule list and more information. We would love a bigger turnout so if you know interested people send them Laura's way!
