This will be short, because I cannot see through the tears. Panster died this week, Nov. 2008. Rueben found her collapsed on the bottom of the cage, and we had to rush her to the vet. After no response to oxygen, we had to make the horrifying decision to put her to sleep. Never in my life have I felt such a painful loss from one of my pets. She was our life...she was the only bird that lived in our room with us for many many years. She was the only true "pet". She was a gift from my sister, and the princess of our life. Every day is painful without her. We never dreamed we would have to be without her, at least not for many many years. She was about to turn 10 this spring. The other caiques, her two boyfriends, call for her all day, which makes it more painful. But we are all huddling together as a tight-knit flock to get through this loss together. Necropsy results will not be in for many weeks. Looks like she had a heart problem. Whatever it was, the unthinkable has happened to our flock.
