Flemish Page 2
I made another shift of plain bleached muslin for when my friend actually wore this. I made the sleeves large enough to pull above the elbows and pin or roll if desired. There is a brown grosgrain ribbon wrapped around the waist to hold up the skirt, and I made a little pouch to go on that to hold money. The hat is a leftover from a class project a few years ago, just your basic flat cap. The pin probably wouldn't have been worn by the peasant or lower middle class person who wore the rest of the dress. For that matter, they probably wouldn't have worn a flat cap either. But as with the cap and the clasps, it was quick and it was cool looking. Since I wasn't being paid or advised in any way with the dress I decided to do whatever I liked with it and she would have to wear it anyway.
During the faire my friend was asked a few times about prices at the merchanst booths. I am not sure if that is a good recommendation for my sewing or not. :-)

This is the newest incarnation of the flemish-ish dress.
I added a quickie partlet and the real shift to the ensemble. I also braided and taped my hair. I decided that it would be the easiest and most weather proof thing to wear to a feast this fall.
