The LITEhouse Award is part of a project for my L571: Information Architecure for the Web class at IUPUI. Each student has to nominate one library website in one of three categories (public, special/other, and acedemic). Then students in these groups vote and discuss which libraries should win the LITEhouse Award. To see nominations from other years, click the LITEhouse Page.
I have decided to nominate my own library's website, The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County (PLCH). PLCH recently bought a new catalog system, and in the process the website was completely re-designed (August 2004). This new design has made the website more user-friendly and easier to navigate. Below is some information about my website nomination:

The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County serves the entire Hamilton County community. This system has forty-one branches and one main library. Click here to read about the Mission, Vision, and Values of the library.
The overall impression of the website is FUN because of the colors and designs used. The links on the right hand side of the page are unique and eye-catching. There are great resource tools available. Overall, I think this inviting website deserves the lighthouse award because of its fun atmosphere, overall design, and the amount of resources available to its users.
