As I (Don't) See RollerJam
by Erick Smith
For those of you who don't know what is happening, in a nutshell. There is no more RollerJam. NONE of the skaters have a contract. Viacom has refused to renew RollerJam and even worse they are sitting on the property and the rights to the show. What does this mean? Well unless by some miracle of god Viacom declares bankruptcy and is forced to sell the rights to RollerJam or they change their minds, no more RollerJam!

First off, to the great skaters, no matter whether you are a Richard Brown veteran, or a Cindy Zimmerman sex-pot, or a Shay Brown/Eric Slopey young talent, or even the rarely seen for no good reason skater we do appreciate you. We appreciate the time spent entertaining us on a Friday (and at certain times a Tuesday) night. We appreciate you talking to us on yahoo or in the RollerJam.com chat room or on instant messenger. We are sorry that this had to happen. We will miss each and every single one of your smiling faces (and even those that don't smile). We hope that by some miracle we get to see a group of skaters with such talent together again and hope that it is sooner as opposed to later. You are all blessed and can do whatever you choose to do. Good luck, lets hope that I can erase this post before March and make it in to a bad dream.

To the fans of this site and all the others it isn't your fault that a bunch of suits in some ivory tower made this decision. It isn't our fault that the sport we love will be off the air permanetly in April. Let's at least make these last 4 or 5 months good ones.

You know when I embarked on the RJWorldNet site almost a year ago I never imagined that we would boom. You are all owed a huge debt of gratitude for what you have done to this site. Without you I wouldnt be here writing this today. Just because you have been forgotten by some suits in the Viacom towers doesn't mean you will be forgotten here. And when the day comes and I finally decide to shut down after th grand finale, know that I appreciate it as much as the producers and directors of RollerJam do.

Finally, to the no good suits and ties (and skirts, I guess I do have to be politically correct). You know, your network claims to have pop. But really, lets be honest here, its the biggest joke to hit the streets since the Euro. Without RollerJam it can just say, "TNN, We ain't got no pop because we can't afford it or any shows that weren't made within the past 20 years." Maybe you will have a change of opinion, but I unfortunately doubt it. Don't think though that we will not continue to try and save the sport we love. Don't think that we are done by any means. Be prepared, and by the way, you might lose the guy in the mail room soon cause we're gonna make his arm sore from lifting up our letters. You might lose your secretaries because they will get tired of reading RollerJam related e-mails. Heck, your phone operators might go on strike because of all the calls. Well maybe then you will know how it feels.

Within the next few weeks we will be launching a new campaign, and in the mean time keep those letters to TNN going. Keep checking back and we'll keep it up.

Line up the redcoats, its gonna be war. We're ready to RollerJam, are you?

Many of you who know me know that when I write these I try and take a little bit of a humorous tone, but today there is very little humor left. As a matter of fact there is really nothing left, nothing left of RollerJam that is. For the hardcore fans maybe this has a bit more meaning, but I think all the fans of RollerJam have to feel a little bit for what is happening.
