For those of you who watched this Friday's game, you were treated to something you hardly ever see, a big change in the California Quakes female squad. The normal squad was shattered by the injury to Stacey Blitsch thus we get to see Suzanne Schalin strap on the skates again. We also are treated to the appearance of a new, yet still un-named skater. Let's examine this weeks lineup.
This week instead of Conemac and Blitsch playing Queens of the track we get Zimmerman and Conemac. We know that Conemac is extremely talented. As of late Conemac has turned on the after-burners, raking up points right and left! Zimmerman on the other hand has been reduced to blocking or warming the bench which is quite a shame. When ex-Quake Heather Sunderman was around, Zoomin' Zims and Sunderman would take the jammer helmets often doing quite well, once again Zimmerman proves that she can still jam.
We also, as mentioned above, were treated to the return of Suzanne Schalin. Schalin has never been a loud skater. She focuses on her speed and sheer talent when she is out there. If you wanted to make a new Bod Squad out of who you saw out there today, you would have to include Schalin. Schalin is not necessairily the greatest blocker but is one great jammer, something the Quakes could always use.
Lately too, Elianna Bonilla has come in to her own. Bonilla has picked up the black helmet and shown her speed to all. Christine Cosson will maintain her role of jammer throughout, Cosson has a bit more size then the rest of the Quake women. And of course how could I not mention the new skater, who has the stature of Heather Sunderman. Quite an impressive back end of the team!
Maybe it's time for a change! The traditional Quake lineup as late of has looked like this, only 5 members:

Stacey Blitsch (captain)
Jaime Conemac
Elianna Bonilla
Christine Cosson
Cindy Zimmerman
Maybe it's time RollerJam made some changes and brought back some old teams. Based on what we saw Friday, I couldn't possibly object to a lineup like this

Jaime Conemac (captain)
Suzanne Schalin
Elianna Bonilla
New Skater (No name given yet)
Cindy Zimmerman

Cosson and Blitsch could be the beautiful beginning of yet another team or maybe the return of the Texas Rustlers?
