below are the children of George and Helen.  George was a coal miner for more than 37 years, and was active in the United Mine Workers of America.  Helen was a homemake for most of her life, but worked with the United States Post Office while living in Filbert, W.Va.
After retiring from the coal mines, George and Helen moved to the area around Morganton, N.C. in November of 1963, Helen worked at Broughton Hospital, from which she retired in 1983.  George worked briefly for the City of Morganton and was the Sexton at the First Baptist Church in Morganton.  George was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors.  Helen loved to play card games and was known to bend the score or do whatever it took to win. She was also one of the best cooks that ever put a meal on the table.  After George's death in 1977, Helen moved to the Oak Hill Community where she was active in the Oak Hill Methodist Church, until her death in 1992.
