A Flat Market? It
seems lately that every month I have something new to gripe about in this column.
And this month isn't any different. So what is causing me to gnash my teeth this month? It seems the folks at Yamaha have decided that their hot new sport touring machine, the FJR 1300, will not be made available here in the good old US of A. The Reason? Yamaha says they feel that the sport touring market in America is flat, so the bike probably would not sell very well. HUH??
Yamaha's bad new Sport Touring machine, the FJ1300 Where do these guys get their information anyway? Certainly not from any of the sources I read. So, during our recent visit to the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show, Terry, Steve and I decided to talk to the folks from Yamaha to try and find out why they have made this decision. We talked to a very nice guy who nodded in agreement as we stated our case and displayed our level of frustration. His suggestion? Let Yamaha know how we feel. And how can we do that? By utilizing the same tool you are using to read these pages. Send them an e-mail. Write them a letter. Call them on the phone. But however you choose to do it, make your voices heard. We Want to Help In order to help make things easy for you, Rollin' has decided to take up this fight. So send us an e-mail and answer these two simple questions: 1. Would you consider the FJR 1300 if it were available? 2. What would you expect to pay for this bike? It's that simple! Once we have collected your responses, we will forward them to Yamaha Motors. So, what are you waiting for? Send us your response today at FJR 1300 Survey, so we can show these people that we are not a flat market. If you would rather handle this matter yourself, you can reach Yamaha Motors by calling 1-800-962-7926. An Update on Last Month Last month, I asked you to write in and let us know how you feel about the issue of loud pipes. The results are in and overwhelmingly, the readership of this eZine feels that loud pipes are a nuisance and risk the rights of all riders. Check out this month's mailbag to see what folks have to say about this. Take care and ride safe (and quiet). Larry “SideShow” Fitch Editor in Chief Rollin' eZine |
