Rising Sun History
auf Deutsch

The band's beginnings can be found sometime around 1990, when the since early-childhood friends drummer Cadu, guitarist Júlio César and bass player Sandro formed MINNIE MENTE, which performed in small places for some time. After some of these shows, they met guitarist Alê Takeashi. It took just an invitation to some rehearsals and performances and soon their musical affinity brought into being the basic lineup of the future band. Soon, vocalist Stefano would also join the crew.

After a series of presentations playing songs from bands like, among others, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Whitesnake and Black Sabbath, they felt the need to perform their own compositions to the public. New objectives, new formulation. All should be renewed to conform to their new spirit and intentions. They stopped the cover shows altogether and changed their name to RISING SUN, a name that translates the musicians desire to innovate Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music. Elaborate lyrics (written mostly Cadu) and virtuosic arrangements (composed mainly by Sandro and Alê) became their trademarks.

But the band's sonority had much more potential than that, and they felt need to incorporate new sound textures. This led to the search for a keyboardist willing to create. By the beginnings of 1995, the natural born heavy metal keyboardist J joined the original lineup, heavily impressed with RISING SUN's energetic compositions and magnetic guitar riffs.

Our classical formation was ready to hit the road and start making some rock'n'roll. The following year after J's admittance was marked by tens of shows in our city São Paulo and also in other towns around. A flood of ideas and creative rehearsals gave birth to many incredible songs. In the middle of 95, the band's first demo tape was recorded: SKY' SLICE. Presenting four powerful songs (two of them recorded again for our first CD), it became known among several rock fans, having even appeared on specialized magazines in our homecountry, Brazil. Besides that, the band's live recordings and live video clips also came from this fruitful year.

Some time after the intense phase of composition, rehearsals and presentations, vocalist Roger joined us for some months, re-recording the vocals of our demo tape and making a few shows. This led to an even higher musical quality, but the band wanted more. Unfortunately, Alê must leave the band for personal reasons, and we stopped some time to reflect on our new directions. In this time, the fast and creative guitarist Marcelo assumed the solos in the songs presented in the CD.

In this new phase, the band's work was apart from the stages, preparing the soil to this new crop: the CD you should be hearing now, with seven selected songs. The main preparatives and instrumental recordings took relatively little time, a couple of months. The band learned its lessons well when the demo tape was recorded. But choosing THE voice was our great trouble, since we couldn't afford less than the best available. Two years after the beginning, and some trials (and errors) we finally found the guy: Ronni, that cordially recorded as guest vocal. With a potent voice and skilled technique, he added the desired punch and feeling to each RISING SUN song. Here we are.

We hope you enjoy it!
