Good Shocks and Struts - Consensus - Koni, Mopar Performance, and KYB (Personally I use MOPAR.) Good Tires - Preferrably ones with good ratings (ie. Treadware, Traction, Temperature grades A-C, A being the best) that HOLD THEIR FULL PRESSURE, and then worry about your Z speed ratings and Soft compounds that burn off in a month and a half... but do they handle...! Aftermarket Bars/Parts - Like all things automotive, watch what you buy. Ask around on mailing lists and stuff first, then decide for sure. You can buy them new or used (junkyard Shelby's and C/S or IROC cars,) or make them yourself to save cash and learn something. Sway bars are much more difficult to come across than any of the aforementioned strut/shock bars. If you have an 86 Turbo Z C/S, or 88 Shelby Z, or an IROC R/T, you've probably got about as good as can be expected or even needed. Performance brakes and components are available from FM and LRE, or junkyard minivans, Shelby/TurboZ's, or other more-expensive models. A good way to beef up your pre +89, is to use 89+ rear discs and related hardware from Shelbys/IROCs. (Lbody Brake Upgrades - Omni, Horizon, Charger, Turismo.)
ADVANCED DO-ERS The best way to increase your handling, through camber and stance adjustment anyway, is to adjust your camber to Xdegrees with a X. Some alignment shops will not like to do this, because it goes out of their spec (usually,) so be prepared to beg or something if you really want this. You can also use 91+ components, as they are dual-hinge control arms, to prevent movement of the chassis during cornering. |
