In late June, 2000 I attended (together two work colleagues) the annual ESRI
International User Conference in San Diego.
For those people who are familiar with the ESRI product check-out the
fluke car registration plate on the rented Dodge Intreprid.
Upon arrival we visited that great American
cultural icon... ...Hooters Bar and Restaurant. This is a copy
of the actual meal receipt I claimed for expenses on my return to New
Zealand.
This is where we stayed for the
week of the conference, the Marriott Hotel. A very large twin tower
complex complete with the luxuries one would expect from such an
establishment.
To the left is the view from my colleagues room overlooking Coronado
Island (which isn't really an island).
One evening I ventured out to a
baseball game. I forget who was playing but nevertheless it was
extremely boring. The game lasted for over two hours and only one
run was scored.
The highlight of the game was the plentiful supply of synthetic food
like Hotdogs and Tacos.
Next door to the Marriott Hotel is the San
Diego Convention Center (SDCC) which was the venue of the ESRI
International User Conference. The year I attended (2000) there were
more than 10,000 people from 84 countries.
The only time I had to explore
California was one evening when I drove up to Big Bear Lake.

last day of our visit to the US.
