The Thanks of a Fellow Sailor
For Michael on his 27th Birthday
Through time and space,
untouched and parted
Without reflection or promise,
the anchors we have left tug as reminders
Sometimes they are too burdesome to ignore
but, on closer inspection,
When the winds whip high,
'Twas not the anchors that kept all close to port,
But the loyalty, honesty, and friendship by my side.
And so, the waves crash and the winds blow
sometimes the rocks are missed,
and other times moored for what feels like a lifetime.
Whenever one needed more security, without out fail
all that could be given was met.
And sometimes when the winds were right and the sail took us far,
the harbor remained welcoming allowing us to call it home.
