Mezeria Thrid Edition

Most harmonious greetings, welcome to the Third Edition Mezerian Online Resource. Here can be found current documents used by both players and the DM to prepare, review and run sessions in the Mezeria setting. While the setting is the result of years of work by the DM the system used is of course the Third Edition Dungeons and Dragons d20 System, thus unless otherwise noted the material of the core rulebooks is used as default. The setting of Mezeria was originally designed for Second Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons but has been converted over to Third for the most part, currently being run to work out any glaring problems.
As Mezeria is a campaign setting that is composed of more than just a few unconventional components the DM has compiled a Mezerian Handbook that details the more important unique material. This document should be viewed first in order to better understand all other documents as well as developing an overall feeling for the setting. The handbook may be found below with links to all other documents, placed neatly at the end of this page for quick reference.

The Mezeria setting is a true work in progress, and has been for over a decade. While most of the material that is available to the players can be found here new additions are added from time to time and eventually make it here as a final product. As this online resource was developed mostly for the players the material found here will typically be that which they are familiar with rather than more DM sensitive material such as creature statistics.

The story behind the world setting is thus: Within the mists of the Ethereal a small plane was purposefully precipitated, little more than an experimental pocket for its creator. Infused with strong ties to the Energy Planes, this world was seemingly thrown together without worry about its ability to endure. Although this little world, Mezeria as it is called, has existed for at least ninety-thousand years it was designed to last but a handful, ten at the most. Populated soon after its creation by mundane creatures taken from the Prime worlds and subjected to the ritual Evolve (transcript may be found in the links area below, in its original Second Edition form as found in Pages from the Mages), Mezeria knows periods of racial stability only to have it disrupted by the addition of a new species from age to age. In a land permeated by both creative and destructive forces the inhabitants struggle daily with their environment and each other, and by a strange consequence, themselves.
Being so closely bound to the two greater Energy Planes (Positive and Negative) has caused many things to be infused with qualities of each. The soil, waters and the very air has been twisted subtly from its more mundane counterpart and in some places not so subtly. Of serious note is the fait brought by simple by-products of sentient minds. Thoughts, intentions, desires, ambitions and all other aspects of a conscious mind have been produced and subsequently become mired in the charged environment over the ages. The more compatible elements such as hatred, vengeance and destruction have congealed with the supernatural forces of Mezeria and have slowly awakened. Composed only of the thoughts and intentions that gave rise to them, these entities know nothing else, seeking only to perpetuate that which spawned them in an effort to later add the result to their being. The hatred poisons the mind against others, vengeance drives retribution for often minor slights and destruction razes all that is crafted and nurtured. Without true form or matter, composed of abstract concepts and possessed only of a will to perpetuate themselves in the minds and deeds of sentient beings, the Agonites as they are called, have twisted a normal healthy progression of the world into a stagnant wallowing in strife by influencing the very sorts of minds they were born from. Few know that the Agonites exist, few remember they caused war enough to sunder the world once before and may do so again. Fewer still can fathom a way to fight beings composed of neither matter nor energy, but of that which exists only in the mind.
It is here, in such a world, that the various creatures manage an existence as best they can expecting little more than survival and less of prosperity. It is here that the players chose their species, develop an individual and try to make due without falling prey to fate. Stacked against them are other species, the various beasts, a hostile environment and the Agonites themselves. The Agonites are making ready to smash the works of the inhabitants and send them back into the mud once more, back into sweet madness.

In this section we have links to all the documents available. Each document is placed under a heading which states the general matter contained therein. The more important and encompassing headings and documents are placed first to make the whole more intuitive.
