Repomen launch EP4 at the Grapes, Trippet Lane, Sheffield on Friday 10th October. Sadly, Leeds rockers The Fuss have had to cancel due to the loss of their drummer. But we are very pleased to announce that they have been replaced by top Sheffield noise'n'melody merchants and John Peel faves Ormondroyd

Doors open at 8pm. First up is Mr Lazarus Effect himself Jonjo McNeil with an acoustic set, followed by the Droyd and The Repos. Should be a night to remember. Be there!

Tickets £2 in advance - £2.50 on the door.

Live at the Beeb
(Posted 21/08/03)

Repomen played live in the studio on BBC North's Raw Talent Show last thursday (14th August). We lived up to the show's name - very raw, and a bit of talent(?). The band played three songs.... "Songs they never play on the Radio"*, Brian Eno's "Needles in the camels eye" and "Lauren Bacall"*.....followed by a ten minute interview with host Alan Raw. A big thanks to all the Raw Talent team (Katy Noone, Alan Raw, John Anguish and Dave Reeves) for making us feel welcome.

If you missed it you can listen to a streaming of two of the songs (*) and the interview by following the link, plus a link to some stunning photos taken by Lisa:

Repomen Live on Raw Talent.

And  don't forget the launch party for EP4 at the Sheffield Grapes on Friday 10th October, with very special guests The Fuss from Leeds. Advanced ticket £2/£3 on the door.

The EP is currently at the mastering stage at the hands of the genius that is Lyndon Hobson - who has also mixed/co-produced lead track Moonlight Driving.

Gigs and EP4 update
(Posted 09/07/03)

A few scraps of news to round up. The band make an acoustic appearance at "Acoustic Sculduggery" at The Point (formally Under the Boardwalk) on Sunday 20th of July along with Joolz, old friends Drinker, Sky Diva and Trap 2. Doors open at 7.30pm.

Looking further ahead the band launch EP4 at the Sheffield Grapes on Friday 10th October. We promise very special guests and a party atmosphere. More details nearer the time. Sound samples of EP4 coming very soon.

Long overdue news round-up
(Posted 10/06/03)

After gigs in Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield over the past months the band are taking a break from live action to finish off EP4 and write new material.

EP4 is in the final stages of production and will feature the following four songs:

1/ Moonlight driving
2/ The finest line
3/ Untethered
4/ Delta blues

With a few overdubs and the final mixing still to do the EP is slated for release on the band's own RepoRecords (Cat no. REPOCDS004) at the end of September with accompanying gigs to promote it. The EP promises to be as varied as previous offerings. Live fave Moonlight driving features Ric on Sax while The finest line is more reminiscent of REM and features Ric on mandolin. Untethered, a song that's been around many a moon, finally gets the acoustic treatment while Delta blues is a six minute blues rocker. Sound samples to follow soon.

Meanwhile the band contribute an exclusive new song Songs they never play on the radio to up-and-coming indie label Slow Noir's debut release - a 15 track compilation LP entitled SUNSET:FALSE (pictured right) - due out in late August. Click here for more details.

The band garnered another review for the current EP from this month's Sandman Magazine. Click here to read the constructive comments of Jacky Hill.

An exciting date for August - the band have been invited to play a live session on BBC's Raw Talent show over in Hull. The boys will be showcasing three songs live and be in conversation on Thursday 14th August. Raw Talent showcases the best of the north's local talent and is broadcast every Thursday night 7-10pm on:

BBC Radio Humberside 95.9fm
BBC North Yorkshire (Radio York) 103.7fm, 104.3fm, 95.5fm
BBC Radio Leeds 92.4, 95.3fm
BBC Radio Sheffield 104.1fm, 88.6fm, 94.7fm

The show also rkindly gave Lauren Bacall its first airplay back in May. Click here to find out more about the show.

...and finally to a most surreal moment.

Three quarters of the band (Si, Denz and James) were over at a Dead Kennedy's show in Manchester in May. As the DK's went off after their final encore what should come floating over the P.A. but Reel Me Cuber and Eyes on the road. The soundman, John, who'd mixed us at our Music Box show in Manchester the week before was also doing the sound for the Kennedy's that night. He saw us in the crowd and thought he would surprise us by playing a copy of the EP we'd given him!!! It worked.

Manchester gig/Good review, bad review/Thanks
(Posted 08/04/03)

The Repomen venture out of town tomorrow at the Manchester Music Box. The venue can be found at 65a Oxford Street in the centre of town. Band on-stage at 9pm - £4 on the door.

The band have received another two reviews for the current EP. One bad one from Holly Hernandez's Demo Hell in the NME on 26th March. A complete and utter slating to be exact. To be expected really - at least we got our picture in NME! Click here. And a good antidote - a glowing review of the same EP on the excellent L2SB website courtesy of Pete Mella - click here

Thanks to everybody who came down to March 26th's Deepend gig. We certainly enjoyed the chance to play some old songs and do a few acoustic numbers for a change.

After the Manchester show the band go back in the studio to mix for the new EP.
