An Insight Into DSLR Astrophotography

DSLR Equipment

DSLR Astrophotography

[DSLR] DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras are quickly becoming a popular medium for imaging amongst amateur astronomers. DSLRs from Nikon and Canon are widely used to capture various celestial objects ranging from wide-angle Milky Way panoramas to high-resolution lunar images.

[DSLR REQUIREMENTS] The following is a list of equipment needed to realise a DSLR imaging setup for astrophotography:
1) Astronomical telescope or camera lens
2) DSLR camera body
3) Mount or tripod
4) Remote controller (for image capture of long duration exposures)
5) DSLR image processing software (for example: Mike Unsold's IMagePlus software, etc)
6) Prime focus and/or eyepiece projection adapters
7) Dedicated flat-field imaging eyepieces (for example: Pentax XPs, Takahashi PJ/NP, etc)
