Three Looks
We're back with our copy that model feature, and this time, bring you
three looks that you can copy. You've probably been frustrated with runway
looks that require special pieces that you can't possibly find, but there
are a few gems you can really re-create. Here are three:
1. Polina Kouklina, D&G
Now here's something you might really wear. Last year's cropped, folded
jeans get some air along with a fitted tee (rock tees are back in). Wear a
big belt (you can spray paint it metallic if you like) and top with a
contrasting blazer, like a seersucker. Her hair is tied in a patterned
scarf that drapes down the neck to one side. Don't forget the cute
sandals! You can add silk flowers (snagged from a vase) to your own with a
scarf that drapes down the neck to one side. Don't forget the cute
sandals! You can add silk flowers (snagged from a vase) to your own with a
little hot glue or tie them on with wire. Tuck a big silk flower into your
scarf.
2. Ujjwala Raut, Gucci
Create this sleek urban look with your strappy sandals and a pencil skirt
(or try one of the t-shirt skirts from our past issue). Top with a satin
blazer or even a leather jacket. You can tie with ribbon or bungee cord
or even rope. Add the new big sunglasses and you're ready to strut.
3. Dasha Tchernova, Miu Miu
A variation on the menswear look. This sweater looks like it needs a fashion designer but you can recreate
it by wearing a big cowlneck sweater under a low boat or scoopneck one.
It's okay if they're flimsy materials, because they are layered. Again,
the silk flower makes its way onto the shoulder. Add a flouncy skirt (it
doesn't have to match!), the
essential clutch, and oxfords. Finish with a fedora or a bucket hat.
With all these looks, remember that you can experiment with color and
shape and design. Also, don't be tied to exactly the same thing - use
variation (and see this issue's section on how to try a magazine look).
