Beauty for your face. You look in the mirror and see your face everyday, and it's what other people see first, too. Shouldn't it be happy, and healthy? Here you can tackle all your face issues, one by one.

Cleansers and Masks
- Exfoliating: make a paste with water using sugar, salt, OR baking soda. Scrub onto face. Sugar is astringent, to tighten pores, salt will help retain moisture, and baking soda will have a whitening effect.
- Dry skin masks: Apply yogurt to face, and leave no more than 15 min. Rinse off.
- Dry skin cleansers: Wash face gently with milk or rosewater to retain moisture.
- Oily skin masks: 1) oatmeal, 2) paste of cucumber, 3) paste of strawberries. Apply no more than 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
- Oily skin cleansers: Use white vinegar or lemon juice, diluted 1 tbsp to 1 cup of water, to rinse face.
Forehead
- Your forehead is part of the T-zone of your face (including forehead, nose, and chin), so it may get oily. Use small sheets of old newspaper, paper towels, or tissue to blot away excess oil during the day.
- Keep foreheads blackhead free by using an exfoliating cleanser to remove blackheads. Or, use a sticky strip of tape to pull them out.
Eyebrows
- Your eyebrows have a natural shape. For a natural-looking groomed eyebrow, the arch of the brow (the highest point), should hit the middle of your eye, and the eyebrow should stop near the beginning and end of your eye.
- The best method for eyebrow grooming at home is tweezing. Do not overtweeze and then "fill-in" artificial eyebrows. Instead, only remove those hairs that are excess.
- A dark eyebrow pencil or an eyeliner can be used to thicken overly thin eyebrows. Match it to your natural eyebrow or hair color.
Eyes
- Take care of your eyes by never allowing them to become dry. A sterile saline solution can be used as eyedrops.
- Eye makeup should be subtle for daily use, not over the top. Use either eyeliner or mascara, not both, unless it is for a big night out.
- Two or more coats of mascara can make eyes dramatically larger. Allow each coat to dry separately.
- Eyeliner should be applied to the top lid as close as possible to the lash line. Pull the eye taut at the outside corner and then apply the liner at the base of your lashes.
- On lower lids, avoid eyeliner on the inside of the lid, but stay outside to prevent infections. A dark line on the lower lid can be dramatic but may make eyes seem smaller if you complete the line all the way to the inner corner. Use a shiny white or light eyeliner or shadow on the lower lash to enlarge and wake-up eyes.
- Eye shadow should match your skin tone. Often a blush color will work fine, or even your lipstick smudged onto your finger.
- Blend eyeshadow, lipstick, or eyeliner on your eyelid with a qtip.
Cheeks
- If your cheeks get oily, use small sheets of old newspaper, paper towels, or tissue to blot away excess oil during the day.
- You can use lipstick or eyeshadow smudged on a finger or tissue to apply as blush.
- Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. These are the fleshy parts that show when you smile. Don't make them in circles but instead sweep towards temples to heighten your cheekbones.
Nose
- Your nose is part of the T-zone of your face (including forehead, nose, and chin), so it may get oily. Use small sheets of old newspaper, paper towels, or tissue to blot away excess oil during the day.
- Blackheads on your nose can be removed with blackhead strips or an exfoliating cleanser (see cleansers above).
- If your nose tends to get dry or flaky, apply an oil-free moisturizer just after your shower. Or apply a light oil or oily moisturizer, wait 10 minutes, then blot off the excess.
Lips
- Keep your lips soft by keeping them hydrated. There is no such thing as too much chapstick. You can also use vaseline or any oil (coconut oil), or even butter or ghee to moisturize your lips (yummy).
- Apply a moisturizer like vaseline or oil to your lips at night and lips will be soft and plump in the morning.
- Avoid licking at any cost! It can dry out and chap lips, plus can create brownness on and around lips. You'll also eat more lipstick.
- ALWAYS remove lip makeup every day to prevent the chemicals getting into your mouth and to keep lips healthy.
- To make an easy lipgloss: combine a sliver of lipstick with coconut oil or vaseline in a very small saucepan on LOW heat. Pour into a lipgloss container, film canister, or small mint tin. You can also pour it into an empty lipstick container and shape before it sets. Allow to cool before use.
- Make the perfect lipcolor by combining more than one color over LOW heat. Pour into an empty lipstick container and shape before it sets. Allow to cool before use.
- To get a precise lipstick application, use a lipbrush, or a well-cleaned fine-point paintbrush (a washed, boiled, sterilized eyeline brush may also work). Apply lipstick like a lipliner at the edges of lips (NOT outside) and then fill in.
- For shine, dab a little gloss in the middle of the bottom lip.
- To remove lipstick, use vaseline or any moisturizer or cream on a tissue.
- To remove the flaking from lips, rub gently with a turkish towel (a thick fuzzy towel) after taking a shower.
Ears
- Keep your ears clean by gently cleaning the outsides with a qtip or tissue and the outer part of the ear canal. DO NOT insert the qtip inside your ear! You can EASILY puncture you eardrum and suffer hearing loss.
- Keep earrings and pierced ears clean with rubbing alcohol. Coat earlobes with vaseline or moisturizer at night to help them heal and stay uninfected.
- To clean fake earrings: soak in a solution of soap overnight, and scrub gently with a toothbrush to remove dirt.
Hair removal
- Remove hair from your face by waxing, cream, or tweezing, or use a bleach cream to lighten the hairs on your face.
- When waxing, make sure the wax is not too hot to the touch, or you will burn your skin. Make a homemade wax with sugar and water on the stove, stirring constantly. Use immediately after cooling or store up to 1 week in the fridge.
- Tweeze one hair at a time. Grasp the hair firmly and pull sharply. Remove ingrown hairs with a warm compress.
- Always clean the area you will remove hair from first, and dry it thoroughly. After hair removal, moisturize with a gentle lotion or oil to soothe irritated skin. Discontinue if you see any bleeding.
Chin
- Remove stray hairs from the chin with tweezers.
- Your forehead is part of the T-zone of your face (including forehead, nose, and chin), so it may get oily. Use small sheets of old newspaper, paper towels, or tissue to blot away excess oil during the day.
Neck
- When moisturizing, don't forget to moisturize your chin and neck. Also, when applying makeup, spread the makeup towards the neck to avoid unsightly lines.
- Dust powder on the back of your neck when you wear your hair down, to keep the area free of perspiration.
Makeup
- One-time makeup to go: swipe a qtip each with lipstick, eyeshadow, liner, and blush. Put them into a ziplock bag and it'll be a breeze for touchups.
- Less is more. Makeup should look like you're not really wearing it. Drama is for the stage.
- Choose colors that complement your skin tone: warm colors for those with yellow undertones, and cool colors for those with pink undertones.
- Remove makeup as soon as possible, and NEVER sleep with it on.
Acne
- Use an astringent cleanser to keep away oil.
- Witch hazel is a natural alternative to harsh acne medicines.
- You can dry up a pimple with an application of white toothpaste.
- Remove blackheads by deep cleansing and exfoliating.
Skin conditions
- Dry skin can be hydrated with a spritz of oil mixed with water.
- Blot oil from oily skin during the day with tissues or paper towels.
- Prevent flaking by moisturizing. Severely dehydrated skin can be rehydrated with a warm compress.
