The Wine Cellar --
A Review of Regular Guys Wines

1994     1995     1996 1997 1998 1999

Our 1999 wines are aging comfortably in Dave's cellar and we are looking for another good year.  This will be one of our more diverse years in terms of grape varieties, although we did not do much in the non-grape catagories.

Here's a preview of what to expect:

Dry Reds -- This is what we like best and again it makes up the majority of our production.  We will again have lots of Red Zinfandel.  Merlot has been very successful as our premium claret and we made some again in 1999.  Also in the claret family we made Syrah for the second year.  In the burgundy family we made or second effort at Pinot Noir.

Sweet Reds--Barb's old favorite returns.  We made up a batch of Alicante which we will again bottle as Sister's Choice.

Whites/Blush--We are doing two white vinifera's this year.  We have a Chenin Blanc which looks very promising and also a Johanesburg Reisling.  We are also in the Lambrusca family with an unusual blend of Niagara grapes and home grown crapapples.

Non-grape--Our only production ourside the grape family this year is a batch of orange wine that we started over the winter.  It was very nice the first time we tried it.

The whites should be ready to drink by June or July.  The Zinfandel will be ready in the fall.  The hearty reds will be allowed to age another year in the bottle.
