The Wine Cellar --
A Review of Regular Guys Wines

1994     1995     1996 1997   1998   1999

Coronado Sunset Zinfandel 1998
Named for the scene depicted on the label on San Diego Bay.  Once again our daily table wine, this red zinfandel captures the freshness of an evening breeze in Southern California.  Just medium dry it remains our most versitle wine.

Darby Premium Cellars Merlot 1998
It is still too early to tell just how well this year's Merlot will turn out.  This will be our third year making this premium dry wine.  We only hope that this batch will live up to the level of excellence we achieved in 1996 and 1997.

Zabriskie Point Syrah 1998
This was our first effort at making Syrah wine.  It will not be our last.  While it is still too young for drinking, we think it will be excellent.  It has a unique spicy taste and fine color.  It is decidedly dry and filled with mystery reminding us of its namesake in Death Valley.

Regular Guys Pinot Noir 1998
This is another new wine for us.  We think it will do very well.  It still needs some aging, but it is showing promise.  Lighly fruity is has very little taste of tannin but is still full bodied. It is ready for the table, but will improve with a bit more age..

Villa Siena Chianti Nouvo Mondo 1998
OK, it's not true Chianti.  It contains no Sangiovese grapes.  Actually it is made from California-grown Alicante grapes.  But the taste struck us as so similar to Chianti we decided to call it "New World Chianti".  Unlike the previous Alicanti wines we have made, this is not sweet.  It is very dry and has a taste that reminds you of a sunny day in Tuscany.   It's  a real treat!
