All things verbally demolishing...

"CALL CENTER INGENUE"
By Reggie Tangan, Customer Service Representative

My Gen X roots and Gen Y influences seemed to clash a lot. Instead of looking forward for a blooming and successful career. I felt pulled out by those two said conflicts. Jobs were bountiful before, but now job-hunting is ruthless, they exhume challenge with rewards and perks beyond your imagination. As for the past, ruthlessness is a no-no, as they say in the past; "Martial Law is passé."

The idea of working in a call center seems intriguing enough. Urban legends and previous contacts (mainly composed of ex-boyfriends, flings, and, hot one night stands.) I liked the idea of sitting down for eight hours taking calls from estranged people.

Sounds good? Definitely.

It made me think twice and over again; Reggie Tangan: Customer Service Representative.

In the cutthroat world of business. Competition is a must. Like a certain game show (You are the?) you'd better outwit players and emerge as the top dog. Though I also bear in mind there are individuals out there just as deserving as me to work in a call center. I'm just pointing out qualities that make me distinguish myself from the others out there.

So I point out two, main, credible, legitimate, and valid reasons why I should work in a call center.

First of all, it expands my network of contacts. Expanding your contacts eventually lead you to a back-up of choices just in case your current job doesn't hold you out. With that you get trade secrets, learn the ups and downs, and most of all, your network of contacts can be equally be your palate of possible dates.

Remember the time when my classmates in high school and early college tease you for being a 'cono' all because you can speak English better than them? Well, they can throw in their collective faces at me and be envied to what I'm doing right now. Pure English Kick-Ass Dominance. All those years watching those American dramas and even those overly-exaggerated soap operas, not unlike the local ones, has finally paid-off. With the right accent and attitude, you'd pass out as an American where the grammatically incorrect is the politically correct.

I could as well go on and talk all my reasons to make me work in a call center, but listing those two reasons would definitely pick me up and make a career out of it. Working in a call center as a customer service rep could be my turning point in life and it will lead me to greener pastures and a better life.

Provided if I play my cards right.

Yours in detente
Reggie Tangan
