Discovering Your Animal Self Our primitive ancestors lived as children of the forest and relied more on instinct then logic. They shared our large brain size (computer) but lacked the data base of knowledge to make it very useful. As more knowledge was gained the logical brain began to function more frequently. Eventually it became our primary reasoning tool, and we abandoned our subconscious instincts. Now, our logical brain is in total control of our modern lives and fights to maintain that control. It constantly brings us messages from our five physical senses. It is always comparing that input to it's expanded database of knowledge, and pigeon-holing it with what we know or believe. Just try to shut it off. Instinctive control come from our subconscious mind. It is not something that has been lost to us, only kept from us by our conscious logical mind. Access to your animal self is your birth right. Connecting to that self adds the sixth sense that the other animals all have. It makes you part of the animal community and of the earth. To dwell in this part of the mind, however, requires that the logical mind is quiet. This connection allows you to see other humans as animals see them, with a sixth sense. A knowing of their intentions, even when they are in conflict with their words or expression. Animals are incapable of lying to one another. This insight into another person can guide us to better relationships and business partners. It might also prove to be life saving. When we say that someone has good instincts, we are describing someone who's subconscious self frequently slips information to the conscious self, and the person acts on it. We all get feelings and incites at times, seemingly from nowhere. Doesn't it seem uncanny how often those feelings turn out to be true? This is our animal self talking. The secret to quieting our conscious logical mind is to yield to it, not fight it. Accept stray thoughts and then let them go. If your logical mind isn't challenged for control it will let down it's guard. Eventually, stray thoughts and inputs will cease and you quietly slip into your ancient self. If this is done while in a natural setting you may discover a whole new world around you. Initially you may need a quiet setting away from distractions to find your animal self. Try laying flat on your back in a darkened room. Do deep breathing and other meditation exercises to quiet yourself. The connection is made in almost a trance like state. If you frequently make the connection, over time it can be achieved in almost any surroundings. |
