Native Astrology - personality, totems, clans & more

Early Native Americans understood human personality and characteristic far better than their European brothers.  They plotted the cycle of these traits to the cycles of the earth, moon and sun.  Unlike modern astrology, the stars and planets weren't used.  The uncanny accuracy of their forecasts has created a lot of recent interest throughout America.  Check out the Medicine Wheel below to find out what it says about you.

I post this information with apologies to all Native Americans.  Native understanding of the human self goes far beyond the trite or casual use that some might make of this material.  They truly understood all aspects of our existence - physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual.  To understand how they were able to do this would require you to "walk in their moccasins", so to speak.   It is a good path to follow.

If you've never really looked at Native American spirituality and at their understanding of the earth, I encourage you to do so.  You may be surprised and find something that's been missing from your own life.  Their beliefs go full circle, encompassing all peoples and all beliefs.  It has honesty, acceptance and respect as it's core.  The earth and her children could use a dose of this right now.

Tom Brown Jr. has quite a number of excellent field guides on native survival skills, tracking, and more.  He has also done a series on Native spirituality and lifestyle.  He is a renown tracker and currently runs a school teaching these skills and concepts out east.  I highly recommended any of his books as an introduction to Native ways and survival.

Earth Medicine by Kenneth Meadows examines the Native Medicine Wheel and totems.  This is a good source for following up on your birth totems and personality shown below.

Medicine Cards by Sams & Carson is another good look at totem animals.Jamie Sams also wrote Sacred Path Cards.  This teaches growth through Native exercises.
