| HUMANS: (Variable Point Race) The most prolific race of Altera, the humans have created vast kingdoms across the known world. Short lived but ambitious, humans are the most balanced of all the races. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| CITYBORNE: (10 Point Race) "Cityborne" refers to anyone that lives in or was actually born in The City. The Cityborne begin play with the Literacy Advantage. The children within The City are required to go to school for 12 years, starting around the age of 5 or 6 lasting until they are 18 or 19. Any mage that begins play or travels to The City has a -20 Point Enemy: The City. Magic is prohibited here, and the penalty is death. The enemy disadvantage is not considered a "Racial Disadvantage." |

| GARDJIEFTAN: (-10 Point Race) The Gardjieftan people live little better than slaves, and most of their day is comprised of surviving. They are a gloomy people, due to the acid rains that assault their crops and the whims of their Jieftan (Lord) which may or may not be cruel. More information is provided on another page. The Gardjieftan begins play with the Illiteracy Disadvantage. Usually only the church or the highborn know how to read and write. Mages beginning play in or traveling to Gardjief recieve a Social Stigma (-5) disadvantage. This does not count as a "Racial Disadvantage." |

| JENISIAN: (5 Point Race) In their day, the Jenisians were the sailors of the world. Unfortunately, they discovered The Empire and have been at war ever since, just to keep their own lands and ways. As a result, Jenisians have an Intolerance (-5 Points) toward The Empire or any member of The Empire. Jenisians begin play with the Literacy Advantage, as emphasis is placed on learning in Jenin. Semi-Literacy is considered a 0 Point advantage. |

| KIRATORIAN: (-9 Point Race) Marked by their exotic looks, the Kiratorian is one of the most recognizable of the human races. They adhere to strange gods, and personal family honor. For more information, please click their history link. As far as game mechanics go, Kiratorians are usually Illiterate unless highborn, and adhere to a personal Code of Honor worth -5 points. This code is to their family and its honor, and the honor of their ancestors. A true Kiratorian will not partake in any action that he feels will dishonor his family. These codes vary from family to family. (See their link for more information.) As children, most Kiratorians are trained in the use of at least one martial weapon, reguardless of sex, sometimes many more. Families often have a preferred weapon that they use, and warriors recognize each others families for these ancestral weapons. To game this, a Kiratorian has the Skill Bonus: Combat (6 Points) advantage. |

| Jit-Zahiran: (0 Point Race) Until The Empire came, the Jit and Zahiran factions warred with one another ceaselessly. Now, the Jit have allied with The Imperials to defeat their enemies in Zahire. Racially, there is little difference between the tan skinned, brown eyed Jittan and Zahirans. As per the norm with below TL4 societies, they have the Illiteracy (-10 Points) disadvantage. Much can be said about "Jungle Medicine" however - Jit-Zahirans begin play with an intrinsic feel for helpful and deadly plants and the jungles they inhabit. The Jit-Zahirans recieve the following bonus skills: Herbalism Skill at IQ (4 Pts), Naturalist skill at IQ (4 Pts.) and Survival: Jungle at IQ (2 Pts.) |

| Caladorians: (5 Point Race.) The Empire. Whether you think of them as warmongers or uniters, they stand as a massive force devoted to their God, the "One True God." An extremely adaptable people, the Imperials rule a large portion of The Known World. The race varies from Lorddom to Lorddom, but as a whole and for game purposes, the race has the Literacy (10 Pts) advantage and the Vow: Honor and Keep God (-10) disadvantage. Due to their enforced military training, the race has the skills: Military Savoire-Faire at IQ (1 Point), Shortsword at DX (2 Points), Shield at DX (1 Point) and Tactics at IQ-2 (1 Point.) |
