Moses in History
Although there is no concrete historical evidence that proves that Moses actually existed, there is also enough evidence to make sure that his existence can not be completely denied.  The only historical information on him can be gathered from references to Historical figures.  Moses is believed to have lived in the 14th and 13th Centuries B.C.  While the information may be innacurate, Moses probably was a stammerer, had killed a man for unacceptable reasons, and was not always a strong leader.  If Moses did exist, this is probably the only things we could say about him for certain.
Myths
As we've learned in class, the parts of the bible most associated with a person tend to have been written many years after they have done what they're revered for.  With the story of Moses, there are many instances of addition of myths from other cultures and stretching of truths in general.  One such instance of this is at the point after Moses' birth when he is put into a basket and is found by the Pharoah's daughter.
In some representations of Moses (as in one picture presented on the first page of this website), he is pictured with ram horns coming out of his head.  This comes from a misinterpretation of a passage in Exodus where a word is used that means both ray of light and horns.  The image has stuck in some people's minds, so Moses sometimes appears with horns on his head.
