Mantel

Woodstove pictureI hired someone to come in and remove my wood stove and install a fireplace.  I chose a wood burning fireplace and had a gas log put in it.  Even though I had tiled before, due to the heat issues, I decided to hire a professional to install the marble around my fireplace.  Then I needed a mantel.  One of my neighbors was having a man do some work for her and she mentioned to him that I was looking for someone to build a mantel.  I told him what I wanted and he assured me he could do it.  He started on it, left, came back, worked on it a bit, left, came back, worked on it a bit more and then decided he couldn't do it.  I think he was on the verge of having a nervous breakdown so I was actually glad to see him go.  Except for then I was stuck with a half done mantel.  So, I figured out what had to be done and finished it myself.  I later removed the molding (It was suppose to be dental molding but he had just taken a 2x2 and made cuts at about 1 inch intervals with a saw) and replaced it with a nice molding, then painted it white to match the rest of the mantel.
