The Beast of Revelation
In the new testament prophetic scriptures, there are three different references to a beast with seven heads:
These symbols represent different aspects of Babylon:
So you have the following:
In Revelation 13, John sees a dragon in the heavens with seven heads and ten horns and ten crowns on his head. Who are the seven heads of the beast?
These are the major empires that ruled or will rule the middle east and Europe. What did they have in common? The FIRST SIX of these empires all:
KEY POINT
Those 7 heads also represent a chief demon principality that ruled over each of those empires through history and of course still exist today. Key to understanding this is Revelation 17:7-13:
7
And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9
And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10
And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11
And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13
These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
In this passage, we see that the Babylon of the future will be a demon spirit that ascends from the bottomless pit. The symbol of the beast represents three things:
Now, here's how we know that the seven heads of the beast cannot just be seven earthly kings of the seven empires that ruled the world. Looking at the first 6 kingdoms:
So, each empire may have had several kings, but there was one demon spirit ruling over that empire the entire time while those different kings were ruling. Therefore, the 7 "crowns" in Revelation 17 are chief demon spirits of each of those empires. The Bible says we wrestle against "principalities", which are translated "governments". Satan and his seven chief demons have the power over these governments. When Satan tempted Jesus, he said he could bring all the kingdoms of the world into submission to Jesus. Michael the archangel is the chief prince spirit over Israel we read in Daniel, and in Revelation 12, it states Michael will battle with Satan and his devils and cast them out of the heavens into the earth.
Principalities are spirits that rule over nations, governments and cities. The Bible reference that proves part of this can be found in the book of Daniel. Daniel had been praying many days and nights without an answer from God. On the 21st day, an angel of God came to him and said God heard his prayers from the first day. But he said the prince of Persia resisted and fought him, and also said that later, several hundred years before the Grecian empire even existed, the angel said the prince of Grecia would resist him. When, in Daniel 10, Daniel received his vision, the Medo/Persian empire had already overtaken the Babylonians, but in a few years, he already knew the Grecians would take over the Persians. These are TWO of the SEVEN chief principality spirits of the dragon, Satan, in the book of Revelation.
Michael is the chief prince of Israel. In Revelation chapter 9, there will be an unleashing from the pit, abyssos, the bottomless pit, of hundreds of thousands of demon spirits. There is one angel over the bottomless pit, that is called "Abaddon" or "Apollyon". In the middle east, at the spot where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet, there is an island with the exact same spelling as the word in Hebrew. The island is called "Abadan" today! If you don't believe me, go check a current map of Iraq or Iran. Could this island, an oil refinery island over which the Iraqi's and Iranians fought in the 70's, be the place where the earth opens up and the bottomless pit is? There is a deep, deep trench near this island, and the Bible says the Euphrates river will be dried up to make way for the kings of the earth to march against Jerusalem.
