Betty Labansat

There is not much known about Betty Labansat. What is known is that she was born on 06 June 1906. This was confirmed by the California Department of Motor Vehicle records in 1993. It is believed Betty was born somewhere in Colorado, USA.

It is unknown if her birth name was Betty or Bertha, however she has a "grandchild" named after her Bertha Elizabeth Dulaney

On an unknown date at an unknown location Betty married David Lee Labansat. The two lived in Inglewood California for most of their lives, Betty moving to Bishop California a few years after David's death in 1982

For reasons unknown to this author, Betty and David could not have children. However, Betty and David "adopted", though not legally, a young man named Robert Andrew Dulaney Sr. The story passed down to me is a sketchy and sad one. As I understand it Robert Andrew Dulaney Sr. had a bad childhood and was very neglected by his parents. When Robert was a child he was caught stealing a candy bar from a store that David and Betty Labansat owned in Inglewood, California. Instead of causing Robert any more problems, David and Betty decided to give Robert a job and employed him. Eventually the three became very close. Even though the "adoption" was not a legal one, David and Betty took care of Robert and his family and treated them as any parent or grandparent would. The Labansat's are not in the gene pool of the Dulaney's, yet David and "Grandma Betty" lives in the Dulaney's children's hearts as their REAL grandparents. David Labansat is known to his "grandchildren" as "Pappa Dave", a name given to him by Rebbecca Imschweiler as a small child, as she could not pronounce the word Grandpa. In addition, Robert Andrew Dulaney Sr's second son David Lee Dulaney is named after "Papa Dave".

David and Betty Labansat took care of Robert helping him and his family by renting them a place to live on a few occasions. The address at 9604 Ocean Gate in Inglewood, California, was owned by Betty and David. Sometime in the mid 1950's David and Robert went into the service station business together. They co-owned the D and L Gas Station once located near 1007 S Prairie Avenue, across the street from gate 7 of the Hollywood (horse) Race Track. Neither the race track nor the gas station or the house is there any more. A house was attached to the rear of the gas station and the Dulaney's moved there after Robert Andrew Dulaney Jr. started a fire at the 9604 address. In addition, David also owned what was known as "The Ranch" at 29625 Louis Avenue; Located in Forest Park, Canyon Country, California, USA, where the Dulaney's lived for many years.

In about 1998 Betty moved to Bishop, California where she died in 1998 or 1999. The whereabouts of her remains are unknown.
