Here are some of the older coins I have found. As I said my hunting sites are not that old, so my older coin finds have been limited. Location, location, location is the key when finding older coins. As you see my older coin finds are rare. As I get up courage to ask people to hunt their yards, I think my old coin production will go up. In my area old yards will be the key. They haven't been hunted and there is little trash. |

Silver Dimes
Here are some Mercury and Roosevelt silver dimes. They were all found in school yards that date from the fifty's. The one exception is the 38 Mercury which I found in Dellwood Park before they kicked me out.

| Silver Quarters
The two Barber Quarters, 1892 and 1907, where found in the Cook County Forest Preserves. The Washington was found in a school yard and 1964 was the last year silver quarters were made. All were found around 8" deep.

Buffalo Nickels
Buffalo nickels are one of my favorite coins. There were plenty when I was a kid. The 1917 was found under a sidewalk replacement. The 35 and 36 were school finds.

War Nickels
I have two 1943 war nickels, both are 1943. During WWII (1942-1945) nickels were 40% silver. The nickel was needed for the war effort. They have a large mint mark above Monticello on the reverse side.
