My first ring.

Gold rings and jewelry are not as easy to find as coins. A metal detector will identify a target as a coin and even let you know if it is a dime, penny, etc. This does not hold true for gold jewelry. Small gold rings read the same as foil. Womens gold rings read like pop tabs and pull rings. Larger gold class rings can read the same as a zinc penny. So if I get a reading that is not a coin reading it could be a piece of gold jewelry or it could be a piece of junk. I wonder how many gold rings I've missed because I was too lazy to dig targets that read as junk. Silver rings and jewelry are different, they usually read in penny to quarter coin range.

My first gold ring was this 14 kt man's band. I was on vacation in Donna, Texas and was finding the usual pennies. Boy was I surprised to find the ring in the hole. My daughter now wears it as a thumb ring.

I have not found that many good rings. This photo shows my other rings. The shappire ring is 10 kt white gold. The state championship ring is 10 kt. The Irish claddagh ring is 925 silver with a 14 kt gold heart. The 2000 ring is 10 kt white gold. The green banded ring is 925 silver. The woman's band is 14 kt white gold. The child's bear ring is 14 kt gold. The last ring is 925 silver. I've since found a new silver ring. I also found my first diamond ring.

My rings.
Except for the cross at the top, which is gold, all the other items are made of silver. My first ring.
