Here's the equipment I use to make my finds. If I can make it I do.

MXT

It may not be the best detector but it is the best detector I own.
I've been using a Whites MXT, which I got in January 2006. I've got a set of Ratphones with the limiter circuit. My pinpointer is a Bullseye 140.

Modified IDX

I"ve just had the modified IDX for a month and it a great little hunter for trashy areas. It is a silent search mode detector. Mr. Bill does the mod which adds a GB and threshold control. At the same time he adds a boost circuit to increase the detectors sensitivity and depth. Both the IDXand Deep Scan coil are discontinued models. The IDX can use all the 6.5 kz coils the XLT and XL Pro use. I want to thank Monte for putting me on to this detector.
The tot lot Hunter.

MY DIGGING TOOL

The BIG GRIP by Fiskars costs $10.00. Its only flaw are poor handle to blade welds. I've had two break. The handle now has a solid steel rod in the handle and it is mig welded to the blade.

MY PROBE-COINPOPPER

Most of my hunting requires my digger. I don't get to hunt many yards. The coinpopper works well on shallow coins.

MY RELIC SHOVEL

The shovel was free, and the handle is longer, and stronger then the new shovels.I cut the blade to 5in. wide which is the widest shovel allowed in our forest preserves. I used a metal cutting disk to cut the blade and shape the cutting teeth.

MY SAND SCOOP

Another of my homemade pieces of equipment.

ARM SAVER

I don't need to use it all the time but when my arm gets sore I can still enjoy my detecting. I adjust it so I actually push down on the detector a little.
I built this to take the weight of the detector off my arm. It consists of the adjustable strap and a bungie cord. It works super. One end of the strap hooks on my belt in back on my left side and the bungie end hooks on the ring on my detector shaft. I don't need to use it all the time but when my arm gets sore I can still enjoy my detecting. I adjust it so I actually push down on the detector a little.
The D ring is held to the detector with black plastic ties.
The D ring is held to the detector with black plastic ties. The hook is easily unhooked so the detector can be laid down when recovering the target.

MY BATTERY PACK

I modified the 8 cell pack to accept 9 rechargeable 2500 NIMH's. The pack reads 12.5v when fully charged. It give me extended hunting time. An 8 cell pack of NIMH batteries would charge to 11.2v. The sony is the extra battery.
