| Another
approach
to transforming the home is a large-scale renovation.
This
can be anything from adding a second floor, to gutting the interior
and re-orienting the rooms to better fit the owner's lifestyle.
At times we are asked to completely transform the exterior character
of the house. We update many older homes, this includes enlarging
kitchen and bathroom areas, increasing the size of living space,
or adding storage space. An accurate understanding of the client's
goals allows us to work efficiently. We assist in this process
by helping to define priorities, suggesting options, or phasing
the design and construction, if necessary, to stay within a
specific budget range. |

"The
attention to detail and adherence to style for the addition
and renovation of our eighty-year-old home was pure genius."--

Two
2-story wings were added to the traditional
Georgian country house. The entire interior
was gutted and rebuilt to better suit
the client's lifestyle. A new central
hall and staircase connect the front and
rear porch additions. Plaster moldings
and hand carved wood accent the interior.

This
project shows how a major renovation can
completely alter the look of a home. Two
master suites were added on the second
floor and the first floor was reconfigured
to create a beach house comfortable for
up to 12 guests.

The
changes to this four square house increased
the size from 2400 to 3400 square feet.
A Craftsman style library and master suite
were added on the back. The kitchen/breakfast
areas were remodeled. New porches and
a terrace with a fireplace help make the
transition to the backyard.

Changes
to this classic 1916 bungalow, were limited
to the rear of the house with an emphasis
on maintaining a compatible design with
its original style. A master suite was
added on the second floor, and the den
/ breakfast areas were extended on the
first floor connecting to a large porch
across the rear facade.
