| GOOD-------BREEDERS-------OWNERS If you paused to read this during your visit you would be highly rated to purchase a puppy from me. If you give some thought to what you read, I am almost sure of it. If you are determined to act on it you are given an A plus & are a person who is exceptional & will be a great dog owner! Great breeders are people who love dogs, dedicate themselves to improving conformation, intelligence, genetics & learning about correct nutrition. The same description applies to great owners. Its about doing the best job possible & also being compensated for it. A great breeder supplies you with instruction, reading material, suggests the right breed for your life style & goals even if it is not their breed. A great breeder wants to be your mentor & spends the time to listen, help & be sympathetic throughout you & your dogs life. A great breeder discloses the pitfallsof their breed. After all none of us are Gods. We have children who develop diseases. Dogs, just like you, can have genetic problems & illness. Dont always blame the breeder! Just as your grandparents might have passed on an unwanted trait, your dogs pedigree can also hold suprises that can crop up without anyone being the blame. As with the case of hip dysplasia & other bone problems read up on Dr. Wendell Belfields studies provided on this site. Also read the genetic side of the problem. It is my feeling no breeder can guarantee that no problems will occur. Breeders cannot control a careless owners failure to supply the nutrition that was suggested by the breeder. Who protects the breeder from careless owners whose children wear out, stress & tease a puppy? From owners who allow puppies to jump off of high places or slip around on slick floors? From people who chain out puppies, leaving them out in the cold? Certain breeds have back problems, eye problems, etc. Life has no guarantees that you (or your dog) will not suffer some physical illness in your lifetime. A great breeder is sympathetic about these unforeseen problems & puts a genetic replacement guarantee into your puppy contract to try & midigate your losses. A great breeder does not over-breed & wear out his bitches. Producing litter after litter can compromise the health of the bitch & the future health & immune systems of the puppies. Investigate breeders, ask questions. You will have a dog approximately 10 to 16 years. I want you to enjoy that time together. A great breeder instructs you on nutrition, care of teeth etc. & in some cases a starter Kit containing teeth cleaning supplies, sample dog food, instructions on training, nutrition & care. A great breeder does not waste time running down other breeders but is dedicated to improving his or her operation. After all, dogs are used for different purposes. Each breeder has the right to breed dogs in order to pursue his sport or use. Believe me, that is a full time job. Our purpose is to breed the old type German Shepherd that did it all. My very best to you in finding a special dog that will always be loved & remembered. Joy |
| We proudly recommend Look Ahead Veterinary clinic if you live in our area; Michele Weaver D.V.M. & Craig Brown D.V.M. Located at 1451 Clark Rd, Butte Valley, Calif. (530) 534-0722. They listen, explain problems in detail and are sympathetic and kind. They also watch and listen to Breeders and provide excellent treatment for all animals large & small. Once again I would like to thank you for visiting this Site. If you wish to purchase a puppy from us you must fit our requirements as a responsible owner. We feel convinced from nutritional studies that the big fast growing breeds need extra protein & calcium provided in balance with other vitamins, fats & minerals to properly supply collagen growth to joints. We insist you provide proof of your feeding regime if any bone abnormalities are found. We suggest this regime be followed to 1 year of age. If your routine is to hastily put down a bowl of kibbel morning, noon & night, please purchase a puppy somewhere else. (If this is the case we hope that you are existing on Total Cereal!) Also we require an adequately fenced yard. We also hope you provide shade, water & thick bedding of some kind for growing bones. Could it be when your dog tries to sneak on a bed, chair or couch that he (like you) has the good sense to preserve his bones? Good nutrition, well padded sleeping, less stress & better care of the body has lengthened our life span and well also extend your dogs life. Think about it. Your Friend, Joy |
